Curious about Colors
I'm trying to compile a list of exterior colors that were available during production of the 964 line. I know there's a colors brochure available on eBay, but I don't see one at the moment.
Anyway, I know for sure that Grand Prix White was available, at least during the 1990 year.
I'm also pretty darned sure that Guards Red, Polar Silver, and Midnight Blue metallic were available for at least some of the years of 964 production.
Please feel free to post pics of your car, especially if it's one of the lesser seen colors.

Melissa,
My 91 C2 Cab Tip is Amethyst Metallic, color code F9V9, and the color is one of the reasons I went "Over Budget" to buy this car rather than the 87-89 Carrera 3.2 I had planned on. And I am happy I streached for the 964, the color, the Cab, and yes the Tip as well.

Dear Melissa,
You need to wait for my book. Every colour offered from 1989 to 1994 is included plus colour codes.
So now I pose the question, When were water based paints introduced onto the production line?. Answer, 1991!!!.
Ciao,
Adrian

PS: My C4 is colour code 550. Linen Grey Metallic.

Well, I can confirm midnight blue was an option, because there are 2 Turbo 3.6s in New Zealand in that colour.
I can also confirm that Zermatt Silver was an option, because Sonny Vo's Turbo 2 is in that colour
Finally, I can also almost certainly confirm polar silver as well, because I think my own car is in that colour (didn't have time to check the option code)

Excellent responses, everyone!
I really enjoy the pics. Hmmm, the Amethyst looks sharp -- I'm a big fan of Arena Red, so you know the Amethyst would float my boat. I'm wondering if it looks more "purple" than the Arena Red. Guess I'd have to see it up close.
The Slate Grey Metallic is pretty fantastic as well -- the classic, understated look.
Baltic Blue -- very nice. I think I looked at a '91 in this color. I'm wondering if it was a replacement for Venetian Blue.
Adrian, I can't wait to see your book -- I plan to ask you for an autographed copy as soon as it's available. Of course, we'll have to figure out how to deal with the currency exchange & shipping, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
OK, more colors! What about black? Was it metallic black? Exact name? Were there different versions of black? (I think currently you can get metallic or non-metallic on the Boxsters & 996's.)
Thanks everyone!

George -- Yes, I've heard of color to match. Man, I wonder if they'd do plaid?! Well, I guess for the money they charge, they would.
Bill -- wow, thanks for the list! Lots of colors were offered. I just had no idea of how many. Heck, some I've never heard of!
Anyone have pics?

Here's a few different colors:
This is a 1994 964 Targa in Wimbledon Green.
Here's an Oak Green Turbo:
We're probably all sick of looking at my Baltic Blue 964...
Jay
90 964

Dear Melissa,
Peter Morgans list is actually incomplete The list is even longer.
You asked about Black. There were two changes in Black between 1989 and 1994.
Ciao,
Adrian

Hi Melissa,
You asked about metallic black, here is a picture of mine. If I'm not wrong it simply says "metallic black" in the label in the luggage compartment.
Not the best photo, as there is a lot of random colours on the side of the car (it was just at sunset) but you get the idea.
