Keith, if you do not have the emergency pull cable (I'm currently manufacturing my own, easy to do) you will have to remove part of the sheet metal from around your engine, which, I'm quite certain you're familiar with if you just upgraded your Turbo.
Of course, this will involve removing your muffler, etc. then just manually release the hatch and wallah!
I bought some extra brake cable from a bike shop and some rubber tubing, some crimps from Lowe's and am making a battery cutoff switch for racing and using what I have left to make emergency front and rear hatch releases.

If I remember correctly, there's a front hood emergency release under the left front wheel well plastic liner.

Riccardo,
I'd have to go look, haven't been in there for awhile. If you look in the trunk, there is a wire from the latch heading off to the right thru a grommet roughly in a vertical line with the headlight. That wire is what is available under the plastic wheel well liner.

There is a grommet in place on my inner fenderwell, where the release would go...no release cable, front or rear.
I found this out when the body shop closed my hood after I had disconnected the cable assembly.
That hole where it's SUPPOSED to go came in handy though!
I wonder what the deal is that some 964s have them and some don't...does that make mine a LIGHTWEIGHT 964???
