Tip 0 - 60 & an M3
I ran a 4 run test on my '91 Cab Tip today using a GTech and averaged 6.21 - best was 6.0 worst 6.34. My Cab Tip is all original with just under 40,000 miles on it. I ran the test in different directions and tried several starting techniques. Nice day with no wind & 70 degrees & top down.
By the way the best run for me was starting in the auto gate in 3rd gear (which forces a 1st gear start) with slight torgue load, and letting the Tip do the shifting.
On the way home I pulled up behind a nice Red M3 at the entrance to the freeway. we had to merge on the ramp behind slower traffic. But as I expected, he floored it as we merged with open lanes...and so did I...from about 40 to 90 we moved in perfectly matched pace. Unfortunately traffic ended this encounter, but it was fun for a few seconds. The 12 year old Tip did well.

Wouldn't it be a good idea for you all to note the ambient temperature when you record the runs -Ok I know it will probably be between 10 and 20deg C during the months you are testing, but it all makes a difference
I'm not saying you lot are tight but if you considered purchasing your own accelerometer, I could reccomend the one from Race Technology (www.race-technology.com), it has much wider range than the G Tech and has an internal power supply <img src="graemlins/wave.gif" border="0" alt="[byebye]" />

I had hoped to play with the device at a track day, however it did not arrive in time. I managed to find time to do three 0-60 test runs. It is not possible in the C4 (mine at least) to rev up and drop the clutch. I tried this on a test run and the clutch slipped totally. So I had to carefully choose the right revs and release the clutch gradually and hit the gas. I am sure on my last run that I also felt the clutch slip a little on changing to second. Anyway, I am pretty pleased with the results and with a bit of practice reckon I could consistently get below 5.4. Not bad for a stock C4. I will try borrow the G-Tech again next summer at a track day and get some more stats.
Run 1 5.63 secs
Run 2 5.39 secs
Run 3 5.50 secs
In addtion I slammed on the brakes and got a 60-0 stopping distance of 182 ft. No idea if this it good or not.
Device now posted to John B. Thanks Piers for the loan.

Hi
I am not in the habit of doing of the line starts, what would be the safe level to rev to on a start. I have a C2, but not too sure about this dumping the clutch.
