[quote] I found the best result was not spinning the rear wheels, the good runs were when it felt like the car was bogging down before it took off. Strange as these felt slower

I found the same myself, - which is a bit disappointing really, since a screaming exhaust note and a pall of blue smoke from the tyres seems more fitting. (especially when viewed from behind)

Recieved the gizmo today. (therein lies a bit of a tale)

I'll have a go over the weekend and post it out to the next clutch burner on Monday.

Have a good weekend all.

p.s. Don't worry Rob Mc, I won't tell them that you didn't put a name on the envelope which was posted to my office of over 300 staff

......so the fact it seems to have found its way to you pretty quick shows what a petrolhead your fellow workers think you are?????

possibly, but probably more to do with a global email request for anyone 'finding' a 'small electronic thingymiwotsit with an LED display' on it to come forward.....

I didn't get the opportunity to use it over the weekend, but will do so today and then buzz it on to Riccardo.

Torrential rain on Sunday, rain yesterday.....I got fed up and am conscious of you lot waiting for the gizmo so did some wet runs just for the hell of it!

I found a flat stretch of deserted tarmac (a local industrial estate ) and managed to find a bit without standing water. I only did 0-60 runs.

Run 1 - 5.90
Run 2 - 5.62
Run 3 - 5.88
Run 4 - 5.72
Run 5 - 5.78

Getting off the line was OK with very little spin (must be the squat factor) but I was getting varying degrees of spin on the change from first to second, ranging from a minor slippage to full scale **** hanging out movie type stuff.....great fun

I don't know whether (weather) or not my dry times would be substantially quicker, I was pleasantly surprised by the wet ones! I didn't imagine that my 124k mile (without a rebuild) lump would get under six seconds, especially after JZM told me that I'm probably 25% down on power at the moment!! Hmmmm - maybe I'll get a second opinion........

Thanks for the toy Piers, maybe I could borrow it again after my TER if that's OK?

Ricco - Its on its way to your work address - will be with you tomorrow.

I see that this is for U.K. P-cars, but some from this side of the pond are replying, so here's my $0.02.

Using my G-Tech, I have the following results:

1. = 5.85 sec.
2. = 5.55 sec.

Weather - 44.5 F, 90% humidity, overcast

One run in each direction on Flat Road, Malvern, PA, USA.

Now the part that amazed me--- I just bought the car (8 days in my possession), it's a 90 C2 TIP with 70K miles. I was under the impression that a TIP would turn ~6.2 sec.

What times are TIP owners getting?

Well strike me from the list - I've sold my car after all. Shame really - it would have been very interesting to see some 0-60 times for it.

I'll stick with my Alpina as a daily driver and rely on motorbikes for the fun factor.... At least until the Porsche bug bites me again.

Update:

I received the GTech today and am hoping to use it over the weekend, weather allowing.

Will post my results (should they not be too bad) to let you know when I'm finished.

3. 5.72 (starting in 3rd - BIG spin on pull-off)
4. 5.52 (starting in "D" - small spin on pull-off)
5. 5.58 (starting in 3rd - small spin)
6. 5.66 (starting in 1st on "manual" side of Tiptronic - small spin)
7. 5.81 (starting in "D" - very damp road,dew on road)
8. 5.80 (starting in "D" - very damp road,dew on road)

As I have a Tip I'm very happy with the times I got, after the 1st run I was trying very hard to improve which was not possible.
Piers, Thank You very much for this fantastic gadget! I do appreciate the loan.

Cheers

Gary, thats really good for a tip.
Is yours standard or upgraded?
I expected tip to be about 1sec slower than a manual, which would mean approx 6.5s

Red face

Hi Bins,
This is quite embarrassing to admit, but I don't know...
The previous owner put a RUF s/s exhaust, steering wheel and front lip on. But there's no documentary proof of any mods (chips, steroids, etc)
Before buying the car I took quite a few 964's for a test drive and this one definitely felt less "untamed".
When it went to JZMach for it's major service I forgot to ask BUT I did ask if it needed a "top-end" (trying to sound intelligent of course!! ) and they said "definitely not"
So I'm just hoping that it is a healthy specimen!

Cheers
