Oldsmobile 98 back in late 80's. I still have nightmares about the fight to get the damn thing to change direction on a wet freeway near Miami. I'm now a Life time believer that US standard cars were developed without suspension.
Opel Manta B 2.0 was another heap of ****, but I tended towards total laughter rather than hate as it would spin so easily that there was a large fun element in driving it.
Please, please, please...my first car was a '52 Plymouth wagon with 3 speed on the column. It rolled like a boat in turns and went 55 mph in 2nd and 53 mph in 3rd!!! I eventually had to pay the junkyard to take goddam thing away!!!
1968 Fiat 850. My wife's sowing machine had more hp and was far more reliable. The worst part of ownership was being lied to when purchasing. The dealer actually told me that there was a heater in that car. The first Canadian winter of ownership was the year I broke the world record for continual cursing.
From both a performance and looks point of view...a bright orange, 4 cy. Maverick Graber..it had teardrop mirrors however. So when you achieved the cars top speed of say 60 the drag was low.
A Hinduastan Ambasador (an old one)
the drivers seat had a chair bottom on it since it was so warn out (no joke)
heck of a 1 day rental car Ironically this was after Pzull let me frive his 964 at the Sepang circuit (where i had a lot of problems shifting with my left had)
Ironically i would like to own an Ambassador
Oh some of you might reconize the design (a Morris Oxford)
Renault Le Crap (oops Le Car). Some guy owed my uncle rent on an apartment. My uncle took the Le Car in lieu of a months rent. I needed a car so my uncle gave it to me. Late one night, I missed a 90 degree right hander and took an off road excursion. When it finally stopped, both rear quarter windows had fallen out. About a week later, I let a friend use it to pick up a keg for a party. He put the keg in the back and closed the hatchback and the keg shattered the rear window. Since it had the full cloth sunroof, It was almost like having a convertible.
The worst part about the car was the Super Self centering steering. It was dangerous. Oh, it only had three lug nuts per wheel from the factory and the dipstick wouldn't come out of the dipstick holder.
Believe it or not, some dumbass stole the damn thing. I reported it stolen and the cops laughed and said I was lucky it got stolen. I actually fond it about 3 months later in a Winn-Dixie parking lot with three flat tires. Lucky me.
Renault Dauphine! Another vote for this unique "little" car. Drove it in the Boston area while stationed there in the 60's. Was a friends car and used as "Cheeeep" transport for us Sailors while in Port. Not the best cared for or loved auto and without a doubt the Tippiest. This car rolled hard when being parallel parked. My second vote would have to go to the first "big" car I almost bought... 1956 Chevy Belair 4 door straight six & 2 speed automatic. As I recall it was about the size of the current Hummer II.
