A one piece forged magnesium center lock wheel specially made by BBS for the car with a titanium pressure shim.

I thinks its awesome. When you say, "reverse molded" do you mean to say it was made in a closed mold? Are both the interior and exterior surface finishes class a or b smooth? Is the tank glued or welded together? I was amazed to learn this weekend that the F1 teams use loctite 5368 to glue weights into the underbody of the chassis instead of using a mechanical fastener. If you have any pictures of your molds (like the big chunk of aluminum for the hood) I would love to see them. Actually, any pictures you have of part construction would be really cool to see.

Robert,

Just a question please don't take this the wrong way. You have extensively modified *the* America GS Roadster, one of one single Porsche special editions ever made, effectively wiping its history forever off the face of the earth. There are no other America GS Roadsters. Did this thought ever come into play in your decision to modify this car?

JC:

Your point is excellent. But given those involved in the modifications as well as that much of the technology employed in same is finding or has already fouund its way onto present generation Porsche race and street cars and possibly others in the future, I would opine that the modifications actually increase its Porsche history. Further, the basic history of the car has not changed.

But JC, wasn't the GS made specially for Robert by Porsche? I guess I just assumed that he was the original owner, so if special ordered it, doesn't that make it a bit different than dramatically altering something like a Carrera Cup car or an RSR 3.8?

I don't know, I'm not judging him - just asking. I wanted to know his perspective on modifying the only single America GS Roadster ever made.

Gentlemen:

The story is far too long for this forum. If, however, you wish it, feel free to e-mail me and I will be happy to call and tell it to you.

Just a quick question, Robert: What does the GS stand for?

Old Porsche appellation -- Grand Sport. Full name of car is America GS 3.8 Hartdtop Roadster. And no engineer (Dr. Ing., Dipl. Ing., Dr. or Ing.) is allowed to modify this part even in the name of weight savings.
