I paid about 700 pounds for the Fabspeed twin silencer; 250 for the race catalyst bypass and 200 for the power flow frame + k&n filter. The truth is: as anyone here has said it - these mods will give you a “new” car.
In what concerns to the extra rear bumper section (the twin silencer is much more pretty – go for it!) I think you can choose for the manual cut of the bumper. In the Fabspeed homepage they have a video with the right instructions to do it. If it is well done, you won’t notice at all any difference between both holes, and you will save a consider amount of money. It was what I did and I don’t regret, although - I must confess- the black colour helped.
I beg to differ on your prices Zicoramone.A cat bypass can be had for £200 from type 911.a "G" pipe can be bought from German ebay for £50 and a bolt on K&N can be had for £50 again on ebay

Well, I usually order from design911 and from FVD. The prices are ok, but then we have to add the taxes and Shipping costs...on the other hand, they are very professional and reliable.

GP 964. Why did you go back to the factory MAFS? I thaught the hot wire was superior? I sure know they cost enough...

Hi Pete,

I wasn't sure if the Autothority MAFS w/ custom programming will adapt to the LWF setup I was going with, so I decided to switch back over with a different custom chip. With the current setup I don't have any stalling problems even with A/C engaged.

BTW, I just ordered a Euro RS DME, we'll see which feels better.

GP 964: From where do you buy a RS DME, and is it just the chip or the whole DME unit?

GP: Did you order from Gert or some other source? Would you share the cost? I know in Adrian's book there is a nice comparison of dyno results from the same car but different ECUs and the RS ECU was by far the best. I'm debating the RS ECU vs a different chip for the existing ECU to go with a LWF install on my track car.

The MAF ought to have no effect on the idle as this is controlled by the ISV. The MAF/OE AF meter controls part throttle and I would have thought that the MAF would be better at controlling ( the stalling caused by) rapidly falling revs since it responds to change faster than the OE AF meter.

I was unaware of any differences between the C2 ECU and the RS ECU, I thought it was just the chip itself that was different.

The DMEs are the SAME! When a different chip is used, it gets another PN.

Hi Tom W.

The current custom chip I have does a great job in controlling the idle with a 9 lbs flywheel and plus it offers a "fun" powerband to drive around in.
When I get the RS DME next week, I will let you guys know.

Loren, Thanks. I wondered about that but was not sure (it certainly makes the most sense).
