Default Cheap Hammer

In the 928 electronics article in 911 & P World - apparently, the guy who fixes the 928 ECU has also developed a hammer alternative. Will be "under £400". Sounds like a bargain. Look forward to the test in a future issue (although I think Mr. Raby will find it doesn't work on MGs all that well.....)

Hi Dave,
Yep, that's me...........just a couple of software upgrades to do.

If there's anyone within striking distance of Cambridge, I will check out the fault codes for free on your 964 - I need some cars to check out !

Regards,

Will this software work on all OBD-I cars? Sounds very interesting!

Cheers,
Andy

Oh come on Dave, we already discussed this....I am definitely going if the weather is good. 964/993's have a parade session at 4.30pm - I am going to try to get on that if I can....groups of 30 cars, no racing 5 laps each....i don't know about cost or availability but.....

I know we discussed it - but I didn't actually realise it was this weekend that was the bank holiday. I believe I am free though.

I'll be going, whatever the skies throw at me. I live, and work in Worcester Park, Surrey. Just a thought, If there is sufficient response, I could call my chef in early to make us bacon butties and tea, and drive down in convoy, any thoughts?

Does the software run on a Mac OSX computer?!??!

Can it activate the PDAS solenoids on a C4 to bleed the locks??

Sounds exiting - keep us posted John!!!

Hi Garrett,
The software is running on a uC within the diagnostic tester. There is an RS232 port provided, this will enable the device to be used with a simple Windows user interface on a laptop, which some people have requested.

The device itself has a 2 line 40 character display, which gives a desription of the fault code, as well as its number. It also provides the prompts for user actions.

The RS232 also provides the means to enable any software upgrades to be mad via a PC.

No, it can't bleed the locks on the PDAS. This is because this requires a different control protocol. The device has all the hardware in place for this, but at present I can't afford the cost of the software that is involved. It's cost me a small fortune already.

My interim solution is to offer a seperate "black box" product to plug into the locks and bleed them safely.

The tester can read out any stored fault codes for the PDAS. (also the DME, Heater, and Tiptronic ECU's)

regards,
