Default Please Post your 964 Desktop Wallpaper in this thread....

In the 964 Photo thread some weeks ago, I mentioned I'd try to get a 964 Desktop Photo gallery up and running. Well, I have

http://gallery.rennlist.com/wallpaper/964

I've only added a few photos thus far, as I'm finding I need to manually resize most to 1024x768. When I do that - the software on that server will automatically create a resized copy to 800x600 as well. So - if you'd like to submit a 964 Wallpaper for all to enjoy - please post in a new thread I'll create in a bit (964 Desktop Wallpaper) and if you can resize to 1024x768, it would be very appreciated. Also - if you'd like to create a larger size (1280x1024 for example) - please feel free to do so, and I'll take it from there....

If this works out - I'll also post a username password anyone can use to post their photos directly, so I won't have to run interference

John,

Thank you for the compliment. I tried to post a 1280 X 1024 but was restricted to 1024 X 768? Did you want us to email you the larger files?

I should think everyone is sick of my pics by now (if only I hadn't 'blown' my last hundred).

Hi John,
I have loads, but I think I'll wait for the self upload feature so I can bang them up all in one .zip. I know you'll enable this soon

I see you are using Gallery. Good application! Your thumbnail layout/intermediate display is a little odd.

See http://www.didum.com/galleries/964gallery/wp for a more trad layout.

If you have any Qs about Gallery do contact me for a phone chat. I have plenty of experience getting it to do what I want it to do.

Cheers,
John

Hey folks..!

These are OUTSTANDING!!!! My thanks!! (And well as to note John's - whose 964, along with Jen's - still have the "classic flag mirror look )

(Also - John M. - yep - I've used Gallery for quite a while here: http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/ My only complaint is the performance with over 17,000 photos tends to get ummm - "really sluggish" at times? So - I may be moving those to another platform in the future - but I'm not sure??? Anyway - thanks again for the feedback - and to all for the terrific pics!!!

John - I disagree - didn't seem at all odd to me!

Hey Rob..!

Sorry for the delayed reply - but I actually had another circuit restrung to my network yesterday - so there were some "exciting" moments I think what John is referring to is both the size of the thumbnails and the "layout" having one "thumbnail" per row. I have to say, when I was doing that layout - it looked somewhat odd to me at first - but, I wanted the thumbnails rather large so folks could see a good representation of the desktop picture. Also - on the back end of that gallery - I'm not doing any "compression", so the pictures can maintain their quality - a trade off, to be sure..!

Anyway - my thanks to all who have submitted photos both via e-mail and posting in this thread..!!! !!!

We have about 18 in the link above at various resolutions - and all of them are outstanding!!

One quick question though..??.. Does anyone use the 800x600 resolution any longer, or should we use 1024x768 and larger sizes only??

My thanks again to all..!

My parents are still on 800x600. In spite of having a screen the size of a football pitch, they say they can't make out anything smaller.

Mind you, I wouldn't bother with it just for them...

When I sent them a link to the 'Nurburgring' thread, the question was asked... 'What is a Rennlist?'

One day, I must tell you about their graphic equaliser woes - too funny!

Funny enough - I've been asking myself that same question for years - and still I have no idea...
