Cool Porsche stuff to do in Japan?
Asking on here since this is my 'native' Rennlist sub-forum. Can't imagine I'd get any good suggestions from the Macan crowd.
Off to Japan with the family for a few weeks in a fortnight, and would love to experience some Porsche culture there. I've been before, but went blind and only went to Flat 4 to pick up some cool aircooled VW bitties. This time I'm determined to do more research! So, cool shops, meets, events, anything, anyone know of anything?

Lots of cool Porsche culture there. RWB, Sunburst, Promodet, just to name a few.

Curious as to why/what you mean. I'm partially biased (I own a Sunburst car, built by them), but them and Promodet, Garage works, some others I can't remember off the top of my head, def have some cool stuff. And Promodet builds real cool stuff as well.

RWB are dog****, basically. If RWB-san was European or American, he'd get considerably less clout because folk would see through the cloak of anime-cool more easily. The other two might be less hacky and dog****ty, but it's not my 'scene'.

I live in Japan and unfortunately, due to my location I not familiar with the Porsche scene here. That said probably the best Porsche related activity you could do here would be to rent a Porsche and hit some of the local mountain roads. There are many awesome routes
to choose from.

Sounds like the Japanese tuner culture in general is not your scene.

Perhaps not.

It’s in the 987 subforum. You’re not going to believe it.

Not sure when you're going. One of the ppl I follow on Instagram mentioned a yearly Porsche meet that happens on Sept 1st. I believe at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse. It's like a cars and coffee meet so you may even see some RWB's as well.

Ooooh, excellent post! I'll have a proper read through that. Thank you!
The red brick warehouse was on the cards, just in general, but I won't be there when that meet's on. Which is pish.

That linked thread is amazing. I’m here in Kanagawa now, but never do porsche or car stuff here… but, have been to many of those places and roads Kuro Neko posted. We’ll be driving from Kanagawa to Izu penninsula area, along coast and back roads. The roads… are amazing and not far outside tokyo. Rent a car, (get your IDL) and go enjoy, doesn’t have to be porsche specific. If timing works with event at red brick do that, it’s a cool place and venue. Also, if you had one thing a blast down the aqua line to the PEC would be fun. Make sure to stop at the PA in the middle, it’s a trip… a rest stop popping out of the ocean in the middle of a crazy long tunnel. You could also always try to get to the Daikokou parking area, you will need a rental car. Ive been several times and in the evenings there is usually a collection of amazing cars.
