I'm sorry, that's asinine and borderline insulting. They must've seen you coming. 90 hours body + 30 more for "restoration" Plus all the other crap. Paining a bumper, blending fenders/hood should be a 1/10 of that. What color is the car? I'd name the shop so everyone can stay far, far away. This is crazy, and I've been in the business for @20 years. Edit: I see the check strap repair too, but c'mon, $30k to paint a couple panels? Everyone should see this as ridiculous. Society as a whole is getting raked over for everything lately it seems.

I see there is a lot more work on your car than it presented itself with initially.

Considering the neglect I guess I got lucky on this one. My pristine C2 that is garage kept had a slightly smaller rust area.
I'd expect the single stage to fare worse than the 2-stage.

What can you do to prevent the wing from cracking at the corners or repair it if it is already cracked?

Drill a hole at the end of the crack to prevent it spreading more than repair with glass/filler.

What are the options for OEM rubber seals VS factory?
Where do I look for OEM seal options? (In North America)

I tried ordering this list of parts from Delaware Porsche. They quoted me $550 USD for shipping. (To Pembina North Dakota)
I asked Delaware why and they said the heat shield and the sill trim were large items.... (Their not) The heat shield is just the small one in the left side rear bumper)
Fine so I took them out, and reduced the shipping to $160 USD (Still a ridiculous number) and tried to complete the order at Delaware, they wouldn't take a Canadian billing address.

No problem.. Give up on them and try Sunset Porsche
They also quote $550 USD for shipping...
No problem, I take out the trim seals and heat shield. But that only reduced the shipping to $450 USD.

Seriously why does everything have to be this difficult?
This whole order would fit in a 2x2x2 box and most of that would be filling.

Where is everyone else ordering their parts from?

Kirk

In New Zealand, many of us use Design 911 due to their reasonable shipping charges. They pack parts with common sense to reduce the costs.

Shipping prices I’ve noticed have gotten very expensive.

In the end it was these two parts:

964-505-279-02 Support $15.26 2 $30.52
964-505-289-00 Lining Bracket $8.07 2 $16.14

One of them has an issue in their database that makes the shipping calculation go to an oversize part.
I had to figure it out by trial an error.

Once they were removed shipping dropped to $126 USD (Which is still way too much)

Well noted !!!!
I think your point #2 is extremely important - although it should make you drive more it might have the opposite effect which defeats the whole point ! "Sometimes" some places or people who are extremely good with a polisher might be the way to go / with some added protection thereafter..... With best wishes.

Shipping in the US without an account is getting crazy. I tried to order stuff from Eastwood a week ago. They offered a deal spend $200 get $25 off so I figured i would stock up. Time to check out and shipping was $70 and it would all fit in a small box. It was cheaper and better to drive an hour to their store and was able to get more of what I needed. Even worse they tax us on Shipping now. I shipped some books that were quite heavy to someone. I went to UPS and they wanted $125 to ship to Main which isn't cross country. My wife has access to a UPS business account and the cost was only $28. Amazon and so many other discount sellers are killing the shipping industry and they are trying to make it up on the common man.

I hate to say it but inspect all the rubber parts carefully when they arrive. I have received some seriously inferior quality parts from Porsche. I have had to return them multiple times to get good ones only to settle on something that wasn't remotely close to what I purchased for half the price pre-COVID. Especially sunroof and windshield seals.

Don't even get me started on shipping- to Japan! And what happens if you need to ship something back for quality issues etc after paying import tax..... When I moved here you could get a box over for $20.

"Pre-COVID" I'm gonna get that tattooed on my a$$ so amazon Et al. can see it nice and clear....

ok- sorry for the off topic rant

I've had good success with Gaudin Porsche Parts - free shipping on orders over $450 and they often seem to have the lowest price.
