Default Lowering assistance

Hello all
My 92 C2 Coupe had brand new front and rear suspension installed before I bought the car.
Unfortunately it was stock and the ride height is too high.
I won’t be doing track or autocross events but will do canyon carving drives.
I don’t think I need to have anything with adjustable stiffness but I do want to lower the car. Adrian’s book mentions installing ROW springs to lower the car.
Can I lower my car by just changing the springs?

I am posting pics of the parts installed according to the invoice. I notice they are 965 part numbers?

You stated new suspension was put on what. It might be possible to lower your car a bit more by adjusting the shocks.. I put Bilstien HD shock and struts on my car and there is some adjustability on those

I assumed since they were Porsche part numbers they were stock with no adjustability.

You appear to have the new version of the turbo 3.6 Struts and shocks. These would be slightly stiffer than the earlier but similar to the M030 US. The stock shocks (964 part #) appear to be discontinued. You could used the RoW M030 springs which should lower the car a little or the RoW turbo 3.6 springs which will be slightly stiffer and lower as well. The US springs will all sit slightly higher.

I do not like mixing aftermarket springs with the stock 964 shocks but the turbo has better dampening shock that could probably handle an H&R spring.

if you can do the job by yourself, you can try some lowering springs.. i had those springs in my Coupe and my Convertible when i got the cars and it was ok, but not great.
I you have to pay someone to change the suspension, i would do it right and use a proper modern suspension like a KW V3 or a Bilstein PSS... Where you can adjust the damping characteristics...

I changed the lowering springs in my 64 convertible, which is something like my roof down summer daily, to a H&R coilover which was ok and finally to a KW V3 two years ago... the car is much more comfortable to drive, can also do spirited driving in the german and austrian alps and is also lower than before :-)

If it is just the ride height, you can also try some lowing collars http://www.autoatlanta.com/Porsche-9...ings-srch.html

Those spring collars would be exactly what I want. However if I am reading the description correctly, it lists my shock part numbers as items that it won’t fit. It’s confusing because of the way they used the parentheses.

A vendor here has suggested that I can keep the 965 part number shocks and use Eibach lowering springs part:
7201-140

i should also point out that mounts were also changed at the time the 965 shocks were installed…I believe I read it was necessary to change the mounts to use the 965 part number shocks.

That Eibach spring part number is specifically for a C2/C4 from what I understand. Therefore the concerns about them working with 965 shocks.

Thank you

So the 965 front shock and the later 92 on 964 strut are essentially the M030 units. They changed the shocks and front springs with stiffer valving and springs in 92 they switched from 158 pound springs to 169. IIRC the Eibach springs of old were slightly progressive and stiffer than stock. They were a bit soft for Bilstein HD's but IMO to stiff for the stock shocks. They also became progressively mores stiff the lower the car is set. The springs and shocks work together as a team. If the springs are too stiff the car will be very bouncy and unsettled. If the shocks are too stiff the ride will become a bit more harsh and jarring. Using the stock shocks and aftermarket springs IMO will gain you little and I always find to be a mistake.

What are you trying to achieve? That will be the best way to approach this. I would disagree what the seller is telling you . He doesn't want to restock.

Thanks Cobalt. The goal is to keep the investment in the new 965 shocks, but lower the car. Street driving and canyon carving. No track use.
Thanks

You might look into the RoW 3.6T springs. These will work with the shocks. Increase the cars handling ability. Lower the car another 10+ mm. Something to consider.
