Default Bought a Bosch Hammer

After a two-year search and not just a little consternation about dubious cost-benefit, I purchased a refurbished Hammer from John Speake in Cambridge UK. We settled at a very fair price, and used an Atlanta-local, Ed Taylor, to broker the deal.

The unit was shipped UPS. Ed held the unit until I verified it was the real deal. Paypal payment was confirmed in just a few minutes, and I drove off with the Hammer.

First impressions: it is a quality piece, constructed to be rugged and durable. I have read the factory manual instructions, and the unit will operate the resonance flap, trigger or disable individual injectors (for troubleshooting I suppose), and it will run the ABS pump to permit flushing of the fluid.

The only light burning was the airbag light, but I had error codes in the heating system and the ABS system. The error code for the airbag light was "Left sensor resistance high or missing". I cleared the code. I have not yet looked at the crash sensor, but this bug appears in most of the POs service tickets. I'll bet the dealer never checked the sensor either.

I did not get to read the other codes because they cleared when I reset the airbag lamp. I guess it they were real, they will be back.

John Speake is a great person to do business with and I can recommend JDSPorsche without reservation. The Hammer is in essentially in new condition.

I think he has leads on other Hammers, and is working on a 928 and 964 code reader.

I will post some notes as soon as I get familiarized. I have read what the Hammer does in the manual, but there is nothing like getting hands on. Any Atlanta-area 964 owners in need, please send a PM if you need Hammer assistance.

Hi Paul,
I'm pleased you're happy with your purchase ! You really have an excellent piece of equipment in the KTS300.

I look forward to hearing of your experiences with it.

Regards,

Great question. I posted looking for purchase partners, but got no takers. I also searched equipment rental places and elsewhere to see if I could lease one for infrequent needs. Again, no success.

It does seem a shame to let it collect dust for months at a time. I did not purchase the Hammer with any intent to make money with it (other than savings on shop charges), and I don't want to run afoul of Rennlist's no commercials policy. I would certainly consider loans on the basis that all costs are covered, and risk of damage or loss is assumed by the loanee. Send a PM and make a proposal, or let me propose an equitable arrangement.

I wish you would have lived in the Western New York Area, Atlanta is just a little too long of a ride. Good luck with your new toy.
