Default Suspense over my suspension

First let me start that I have a 1990 C2 that has a worn out suspension.

I purchased a set of PSS10'S in December from a guy who went from PSS10'S to KW V3 so he could add air ride. The kicker was that he also had a 1990 C2 so I assumed they would be a direct fit replacement. For those that do not know the 89 and 90 differ from the 91-94.

Fast forward to me having the coilovers installed along with the DRS spring plates, Rothsport steering rack brace, Tarret camber plates, and the FVD motor "cup" mounts. All was humming along but the rear shocks didn't fit.

How is it possible that 2 1990 C2 cars have a different set up? My theory is that my car was an October 1989 build and maybe his was a late 1990 build, essentially making it a 1991.

I spoke to the gentleman today and he assured me that he purchased the V3's for his 90 car and used NO adapter. I have purchased the adapter and will have to reinstall when it gets delivered.

What do you guy's think the difference could be?

Have him send you a picture of his rear strut mounts in the engine bay- match those up against yours. If his are shorter they are the later mounts.

If they are the same, your issue is elsewhere and you won't need the spacers. If they are lower then the spacers will solve your problem.

They are shorter by about 1" - 1 1/2" and the bolt pattern was off by about 3/8" (10mm).

The rear stock towers changed in "91 to accommodate the storage needs of the cabrio model's softtop mechanism.

Looking at your mods list, you should at least service the lead bushing on your front control arms. If the rest of your suspension is worn out, then chances are this bush is trashed too. You can replace the bushing alone with a new rubber bush from Elephant Racing or other providers or you can go the poly bush route from a company like Powerflex.

Just look at the seller's and your VIN's digit 10: if it is an 'M', it is model year 1991 with the new and shorter setup (which makes room for the convertible's new softtop as one hears): https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...-decipher.html

That will all be done. I am doing it in stages because I will be doing the RS uprights with the bump steering correction at the same time I do the LCAB. This unfortunately has to happen in this sequence because of time constraints. The car goes in on Monday to get the Ruf wheels redone and new tires. I'm traveling until the 8th for business and a ski trip so executing the current schedule is intense to say the least.

I sold my PSS10's to JP-S. My car is a 1990 C2 and my VIN does not have a letter M in the VIN. Basically took them off my car and installed my new coilover set. Does anyone know if the spacers get attached to the coilover assembly? or do the spacers attach to the rear strut mounts? I am wondering if it is possible I did not notice the spacers when I did the swap?

They attached to the strut on mine. the spacer also converts the bolt pattern to early cars. Is it possible your new set had a version for the early cars and needed no spacer?

There is also a length difference of about 1.5". It's just weird and honestly the reason I bought these from Steve, because they were on a 1990 and I had a 1990. He is in SD and he wouldn't ship. I happened to be in SD for business and he was kind enough to send his son with them to me. My hotel had a fedex, and the rest is history.

At the end of the day it's just so odd that they don't fit considering they came off the same year of car.

Here is a picture I took when I was doing the installation.
