Default Recommendations for case line boring?

I am deep into the rebuild of my engine having purchased lots of $$$ new parts. The case needs machining as the intermediate shaft tunnel is out by 0.1 of a mil (circa 4 thou).

Can anyone recommend a shop to do this work in:
1. New Zealand
2. Australia
3. USA

Thanks in advance.

When I rebuilt my engine, I used Steve W at Rennsport Systems. He did a fantastic job. I was fortunate and didn't need a line bore.

Carlquist Competition in Oakville CT has done all my Porsche work - 4 cyl, 6 cyl. I've seen 4 Cam engines there. Very competent shop. Fairly certain they have a line bore.

I would add Performance Developments to the list. No experience with them but If I were looking for a shop they would be one I would consider. Neil post regularly in the engine rebuilding forum on Pelican.

I used Ed Pink for this. They’re in the LA area and also build the Singer engines. They did all my crackcase work (including line hone) and the work was top notch, quick, and affordable. Highly recommend.

Thanks for the shout out. Yes we do this work.

BUT, some careful advice here about repairing the main housing bores in these Porsche engine cases. Particularly the earlier mag cases. Line honing will make the bore round, but not straight. The hone will follow the line bore only. If the line bore is not straight the final housing bore will be round but not straight. This is why an alignment cut is most often required with the cases. You can get into all sorts of problems with honing if you are not careful. You could hone the front and rear bores round but if any of the other housings are out of line, they can be made even more out of round. Best always is to lap the case parting lines to make sure they are flat, assemble the case using a sized front "nose" bearing or standard, then measure each housing with a through bar and dial indicator attached. This will tell you if the housings are out of round and out of alignment. Then the choice of how to repair can be made.

I'm sure this was done in the previous posters case repair. All good shops would do this. Just giving some insight on how it can be done and what pit falls can happen.
