Default PPI in Miami

Can anyone from the Miami area suggest a good shop/individual to do a ppi on an 89 964?

Orbit Racing or 9automotion, but they are in Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach. Both have stellar reputations.

PS: Never buy a car from Miami.

why is this? I have seen quite a few 964s listed there and they always seem a little sketchy but can never put my finger on it.

Part of my comment was in jest, but generally cars out of Miami are shady. Fraud is as common down there as blizzards in Canada. But again, you never know. Maybe your car is the exception.

That’s why I recommended those shops. They would catch anything.

I hope you are joking about cars in Miami! I DO appreciate all input! The particular car in question is at a dealer that honestly doesn't seem too aggressive in selling me. What I mean is I don't feel like they aren't really trying/making big effort to sell me on this car. That being said this car was sold/listed on BAT about a year ago. They haven't done much to the car except change the wheels to 17" Cups. And it seems the car has been in their inventory since it was sold on BAT. It has about 200 miles more than when it was on BAT.

I concur about Miami. I have been involved with some shady businesses there.

Which car at which dealer? Someone here likely knows about one or the other.

Wow! Miami is a big town! Lots of money! Have to be some great cars down there. The dealer is Sports Cars Miami. Anyone heard of them?

The titling of cars in FL is very fast and loose. Many a car has had its title washed in that state. Pair that with a ton of "exotic car" buy here, pay here lots in Miami which import cheap versions of fancy cars from all over the US and you get tons of exotic cars with checkered pasts that have been sold there over the years.

It's not to say that all cars that are from Miami are junk, there are plenty of good collectors and collections there, but you need to be extra skeptical and vigilant when buying from that region, that's all. A strong PPI from one of the aforementioned shops is a great place to start.

I will also suggest avoiding buying a car from Miami. I had the worst car buying experience of my life buying a 993 from RMC Miami, and I was buying a track car I had VERY low expectations for. I also had a 3rd party PPI performed. It didn't help the massive title issues.

I'll never buy a car from South Florida again unless it's from a reputable private seller, or Champion.

I would add to make sure to check the car out in person before closing any deals down there. That dealer doesn't seem to specialize in air cooled Porsches.

From what I have heard from many sources is that there are a few shops that work with the dealers regularly so when they get hired to do a PPI they gloss over the cars and favors the dealers. As noted, if you decide to buy anything out of Miami it’s best to have a good look at the car in person before you finalize the deal.
