Heel and toe pedal set
After an awesome fun first day at the track with my 964RS I must say the only thing I need to complete my fun is a different accelerator pedal.
I like to brake with the left side of my foot and tip the throttle with the right on downshifts - and the 911 has the gas pedal too far away from the brake to do this!
Also my feet were a touch damp (this is England in March after all!) and so were a little slippy!
Anyone recommend some pedals that will help me to drive better?
Thanks
Julian

I've seen pics on a web site (a few months ago) of a block of wood strapped to the accelerator pedal....
I managed my first 'blipped' change today in 5 months of ownership and I felt like I was impersonating Mr Tickle to get there. Surely there must be a more elegant answer??

I made up cover which rivits over the O.E. pedal and
has a lip on the inside edge.
I have seen many race cars with a simular idea.
I will make you one for free if you like.
I live in Thelwall myself.

If you take the floor board out, you will see that you can adjust both the brake and gas pedals... I did this, so now I have no issues heel toeing.
Before you drop cash, give this a shot. It will take 30 minutes...
FYI if you shift the position of the brake pedal too much, you will disrupt the brake light, keeping it on permanently. So once you've made your tweaks, look to see if the brake light is on.
Have fun!

Thanks for your help on this - I have a pal who is an engineer so I might get him to make me a nice custom throttle pedal with the extension built in (but very kind offer of a FOC part!!).
I did see a few different pedals by searching the forum particularly rennline and another one I've forgotton now but most seem to have the extension mainly at the bottom for heel and toe style rather than the left/right rock method I prefer.
The actual positioning of the brake/throttle isn't bad fore/aft but it is just that there is too big a gap between the pedals! Especially with damp shoes I nearly came to grief a couple of times!!

Hello
You can chech this:
http://www.ultimatepedals.com
They can produce pedals by your own drawing. Cheap . I have done my own pedals which match exactly what you are looking for and will be receiving them in a week I can send you PDF files if you are interested
Cheers

The Ajusa pedals need the following:
Fas-Trac Extension for Accelerator Pedal
Part Number AJR 423 113 FT
Gives you an additional 1/2"-3/4" of width to facilitate heel-and-toe acceleration and braking.
Easy bolt-on installation. Fits AJ-USA track style pedal sets only.

Thanks guys!
AJUSA look good but of course designing your own is perfect!
Can I have that PDF please burgass?
PS do you have any more photos of your car as I have ordered the same wheels as you in gold (my car is red) and am worried it might look odd and so whether to switch to silver!
Are you running 8" / 9.5" combination ?

Julian check your PM
I have some more pictires but they are not scanned yet. Beware that these wheels are extremely difficult to keep in good condition. If they use salt on the roads where you live you will have a lot of problems and costs to keep them nice and shiny. I am not 100% sure but I think mine are 8,5" and 11"

FWIW, I use the "FAT Foot" method, as some of you have tried. Once you get used to it...it's 2nd nature. I have become VERY adept to this procedure, enough that I wouldn't dare install a set of "trick" pedals in fear that this would screw me up!
C4TT, HOW did you adjust your brake pedal lower and still have your brake lights activate?? I had initially tried this and realized that the contact switch wouldn't operate anymore for the brake lights...the 964 is not like the Carrera and SC where you can adjust the brake pedal as low as you want.
If you moved/modified your switch, I'd like to know how you did it.
...unless there's something different with the C4 that I don't know?

Piers - ...good one.
I call it the "FAT Foot" method, simply because you use the right and left side of the "ball" of your foot. Basically you use your right foot on both pedals, under braking you roll the right side of your foot over to "blip" the gas while downshifting.
Yup, it's all ONE movement...and practice makes PERFECT!
