Default Ruf C2 Front Lip (Splitter) Installation Question

Does the Ruf front lip splitter go on over the existing black plastic valence panels or in place of?

Here is a link to the item in questions:

http://www.rennspd.com/P_Detail.asp?PID=429

Probably a stupid question, but I am puzzeled.

Thanks

Pat, Looks like mine. You take off the old piece and install the new, you can straighten your smile, if needed, since your in there.

I bought Rennspeed's RSR 2 piece splitters instead of the Ruf front lip. Both of them mounts under the factory valance using the existing mounting points. Being that they are fiberglass parts, hand fitting is required.

I've not installed mine yet, but I can already tell that fitting the splitters will be easier with the help of my Dremel tools.

Bill Gregory gave a quick write up about a year ago when installing the Ruf splitter and confirmed that it mounts over the existing parts. The only mod was to use the longer screws supplied by Ruf.

Rennspeed's description seems to confirm a similar installation:
Duplicates of Ruf one inch straight down front spoiler lip, mount under 964 C2, C4 factory black plastic valance.
BTW, I ordered this part from Rennspeed and will have it mounted by next weekend. I can post a follow up if anyone's interested.

Thankx, Joey. That may be very useful. I just ordered the splitter from MA Shaw and will be mounting it and the info may transfer. Joe W.

When you install them, please post photos of the installation - I'm very interested in what these look like and how easy they were to paint and install.

Peter,
That looks great so far. I can't tell from the pictures, but did you first remove the stock lower plastic valence?

Erick
Erick, Nope, nothing to remove except the front wheels. I had to remove the wheels to drill a screw into the inside fender lip. The install, so far, has been smooth and painless. I'm really glad that I choose to use the "Door Sill Trim" to insert between the splitter and the bumper. It gives it a factory look and continues the horizontal line from the sills. It also made the fitting easier, as it hides many imperfections.

I will try to finish this today and post more pics. I still need to get it painted because it has only been primed.

Ps. Warmfuzzies, I think it will look awesome in Gurads Red!

Peter - that does look very very good - where did you get the "door sill trim" from?

Got it from Pelican Parts. I believe it was around $18, a bit steep for a thin strip of rubber.
