I am wondering if anyone here has swapped their Targa bar? I have a silver bar sitting in my garage that I would like to install instead of my black one,
the replacement looks relatively straight forward, except it looks to me like I have to move the oil tank out of the way.
has anyone here done that and how do I do that?

Mine came off for paint recently. I didn't do it but the pictures might help.
Here's a bit of information. Your black Targa bar is probably silver underneath. The 964 Targa bar skins are actually stainless steel so if you strip the paint off the black bar you'll have a silver bar without removing it. I don't know if swapping the bar is easier than striping the paint off. I was told that the rubber seal around the bar will probably need to be replaces if you remove the skin. I have some paint chips on my 964 Targa bar and it's definitely stainless under the paint.
just to be sure: Am I right to assume that your car is right hand steering, so when you talk about "driver's side" then it's my passenger's side?
Not that this make the job any less intimidating....
And the pictures of your car with the silver bar, just convinced me even more that it *must* be done

Curious about the rear glass seal. Were you able to remove the rear glass without damaging the rubber seal? If not, where did you find a new seal? Last I checked they were listed as NLA
