What a HORROR STORY! I am amazed you are staying so calm.

I used MSR&R for both my Aero mirrors and clear bumperette replacements and had no problems. In fact I had good service. Reading this however, especially the lack of concern around your situation shown in the emails, I would not want to purchase from these guys again.

Hope you get it resolved asap and good on you for remaining cool and collected!

i've never heard a bad thing about them .

please dont let this thread put you/or anybody off using them

i'm hoping this can now be resolved satisfactory and quickly .

then i can put it down to international trading and a breakdown in communications .

earlier in the thread ms roadrace were actually recommended to me to sort out the mystery of the different rrear shocks . from this i take it they are a respected out-fit .

i will just think twice about ordering anything as complicated as a full shock absorber set from them in the future .

i hope none of the members that have helped upto now mind having there names mentioned .
if you do , please let me know
thanks
ian

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dave ,

parts are definately not correct !!!!!!!!!!

a quick look at the bilstein site will tell you that there are different part numbers for the earlier 964's (which you sent) , and the later 964's which my car is .

i posted on rennnlist at the very start of this sorrrrrry episode .
so far i have had replies from .....

bill gregorry (lifetime rennlist member , technical specialist , and super moderrrator)

phil raby (author of 964 book and writer to 9111+porsche world)

fore! (a rennlist member that had information for me from ryan and lou at bilstein in califonia)

hope we can sort this out very , verry quickly , as i am due out of the country in 2-3 days . which will leave me no real option but to let a third party sort this out for me .

many thanks
ian

i have contacted jennifer once , she sais she would drop them a line to see what the story was .
same day , they replied to 2 of my emails .

i have kept jennifer posted , and sent her copies of all emails between us , i have not had a reply from her yet .

seems i should have followed the advice given all them weeks ago , and contacted john at rennlist strait away .

but i didnt want to bother him / cause trouble with site sponsors etc.

i was just hoping ms road-race's customer service would be upto the same high standards i expect from uk porsche people , and also upto the very high standards i keep hearing about the other usa porsche people .

What a PITA! I was just getting ready to order some clear bumperette replacements from MS Road and Race. Instead, I think I'm going to send them an email asking why they've not taken care of you and letting them know that they've lost a customer. I'm so sorry to hear about your difficulties.

Okay, here's the email I just sent to MS Road and Race.

Hi Dave,
I'm ready to buy the clear bumperette replacements from you guys, but first I have a question.
I've been reading an ongoing thread on Rennlist.com about a man named Ian C. who lives in Manchester, U.K. and his order of some Bilstein shocks from your company. From his account he has not been dealt with fairly. The costs he incurred seem to have totalled over $500 just for shipping and customs. Now, it's not fair to expect you to pay the customs as he knows that in ordering from the US he would incur those charges, however, since he received the wrong parts in the first shipment he should not be expected to pay the import tax twice. The fact of the matter is, he is unhappy with his buying experience, but not nearly as much as his fellow Rennlisters are. The situation has raised questions regarding your company's customer service practices in the minds of many of the users of the site. MS Road and Race, up to this point, has had a very good reputation, and in fact it was through Rennlist that I found your company and decided to buy from you, as I'm sure is the case with many other Porsche owners. All we ask is that you do all that you can to rectify the situation.

Please explain this issue, and hopefully how you are going to remedy some of this situation for Ian. I would like to do business with you, however first I need some explanation of this situation to do so in good conscience.
Sincerely,
Brian Hensarling

I wonder how they'll respond...
And don't worry, I'll definitely post the reply...

Brian

Here's the reply from MS R&R:

>will call john dunkle to research this thread
>concerned about background, dunkle has been a long time client long before
>rennlist
>i'm surprise that john was never put in the loop by a rennlist user

(Shaking my head in disbelief...)

No – but – I do now. Without having heard from Dave , yet (I suspect I will) – here is my impression of this thread….

It started out great! A few questions, some info – some help to Ian from Bill and others. That’s just great…. It should have started there – and WELL BEFORE PRIVATE E-MAIL WAS POSTED (read the Charter/TOS and other site areas) – someone should have let me know there was a problem…

So – rather - this thread looks like a lynching party – rope in hand – looking for a tree limb…

So now – what – EXACTLY – would you have me do? Tell Dave at MSRoad and Race to “fix the problem” knowing full well that the “after taste” of this thread has already judged him? Now – that’s really good. How many of you read/remember the retractions in the Daily News that says “Sorry about the mis-print in last weeks headlines: “Aliens Invade London” rather then “Flu Invades London” - when the population has already evacuated?

Second – I won’t even start with you about posting private e-mail and PMs – it’s a “pet peeve” of mine. Many of you have Flamed me or send me notes in private, so I have every right to post THOSE? Could you explain “why”? For the life of it – it escapes me.

Third – ever purchase a car? I’m guessing most of you have at some point. When you purchase your Porsche – do you take it to ANY car dealerships and expect them to intercede on your behalf if there is a problem? I doubt it. My point here – is if you are a Rennlist Member, let me know if there is a problem. If you are not a Rennlist Member who does not support the site – then what expense should I be expected to go to in resolving an issue? In my view – it’s like buying a TV at WalMart – and expecting Kmart store Manager to make good on the return and “intervene” on your behalf to the manufacturer. Sure – I usually do what I can, just because I’d like someone to do it for me – but let’s be honest – I don’t think I should "expect" it. And I don't think I’m missing much on this aspect, either….

Finally – contrary to popular opinion and current wisdom – Rennlist is NOT the “Judge Judy” show – and I’m pretty certain I’m not Judge Judy. So – before you put “on the air” any issues with any vendor (whether they are a Sponsor or not), you’d better be really certain that you and they have done EVERYTHING to resolve the issue - including contacting me BEFORE posting, not after.... In that case – and in this case – I wouldn’t be left sweeping up after the party and all the guests have disappeared in anger.

BTW: I have no idea what Dave will say when he calls. I suspect there are two sides to this story – there always are when there is a disagreement. For that, personally – I’ve used Dave for years – and sometimes – he’s delivered when I had problems with other vendors – so he volunteered to “sweep up their mess”. That’s “why he’s a Sponsor” and many “businesses are not”. Yep – I’m “selective”. It may cost me “Sponsors dollars” – but if money was what Rennlist was all about – Jen and I would have shut it down years ago and just focused on our “paying jobs”.

Now – if this sounds “terse” – it’s meant to. If anyone with a “horse in this race” wants to contact me about “their side” – feel free to do so. But – before contacting me, I’d suggest you edit some of the posts that contain private e-mails. You do NOT want me to do that for you. Promise.

This thread is closed.

Have a nice weekend.
