Ian,

I am not sure what I say can help you with your problem but I can give you some information on the earlier shock top mount design. I have the earlier design on my car and recently replaced the shocks and at the same time replaced the mounts. I looked at the option to convert over to the later model mount as I found the earlier mount to be badly designed IMO. The mounts I removed albeit 14 yrs old were badly cracked to the point of falling apart and twisted sideways. The old design is similar to a cushion and the rubber had also been permanently compressed (to the same level??) The later model design seemed to be a better option as I recall because the mount fitted over the shock with less movement possible and a reduction in the compressed cushion effect. I eventually was compelled to reorder the originals because like you my shocks had arrived!! I believe msroadrace may have a diagram where the two are side by side. Feel for you and the frustration...at such expense!!

Do you have any legal recorse against them for misrepresentation? If you have written confirmation that these items fit an early car, they should take the goods back and pay the freight. What a waste of time....

Ian,

Do you have clearance above the shock mount such that if the rod sticks out an extra inch that it wouldn't hit anything? If you do I'd go ahead and fit them - with your original mounts.

Alternately - you could return them. My experience is over here is that customer service is very good. If you specified Bilsteins for a 93 C2 in your orginal order, the only fittment from Bilstein is B46-1547. If they send you the wrong ones the onus is on them to put it right. I'd be suprised if MSRoadrace wouldn't help you out with the new shocks and pick up the shipping.

Again if you have the orginal paperwork, shipping documents and MSroadrace specify on their paperwork that the new items are exchange then I can't imagine UK Customs charging you twice. As a Brit, I've found them open to discussion - unlike their US counterparts.

Let us know how it pans out - I'm sure we'd be interested to get a read on MSroadrace's customer service.

just to keep you all updated ..............

i found out i could have fitted the earlier shocks , maybe using standard rubbers , maybe using mono-***** . (didnt want monoballs harsh ride )
porsche did chanche that part of the body that holds the rear top-mounts .
i sent the parts back to m+s road-race inc. (los angeles) , the postage cost me around $130.00usd .
parcel will be tracked tommorow as i expect them to recieve it tuesday .
will post results of this , allthough i expect no problems with dave at m.s i will have to see what he says about my return shipping costs .
