I had a 4 post lift in the past and I miss it dearly. It made performing any underside work a breeze and for detailing there is nothing better! Sadly the new garage doesn’t allow for a 4 post so I might have to give one of these a try to speed up general maintenance. Thanks for posting!
Do you think on the highest setting this would be adequate and reasonable to do the following on a c2.
1) a transmission only out and replacement
2) an engine out with intake removed first in engine bay and I guess reassembled in engine bay.
3) an engine out and replacement with intake attached
Can someone verify that you can access the oil tank drain on the passenger side/perform an oil change with the quick jack? The rail looks like it would block access.
You can access the plug. Getting it to drain cleanly is a little tricky. A pan gets blocked by the lower stand, and the oil hits the edge of the pan, so I used a funnel to direct it over to the pan, I think.

agree you can access it but will be a mess the way the oil comes out at height. I have 2 low profile oil drain pans I use and just leave the car sitting on its wheels. Slight reach to the crankcase plug lying on the ground but have managed to keep things pretty clean this way.
titleisaddict87, So no room or proper concrete for a MaxJax? It has made everything very easy when I work on my cars. I actually poured 2ft x 2ft x 2ft concrete anchors in my garage for mine.

I've done two 964 engine drops now with my MaxJax and countless number of other repairs on all my cars and it is the #1 best tool in the garage. I bought it before I put in the fancy floor and various tool boxes & work benches.
With the MaxJax you don't quite drop the engine as you raise the body above it. Works great. Only drawback is you can't fully open the doors when on the lift. I used a rolling stool to work under the car. But you need the garage space and height and the QuickJack is super cool if that is your only option.
I was suspicious of my garage floor, and my wife didn't want me to die, so I hired a local contractor to cut into my floor, dig 2ft x 2ft x 2ft holes, put rebar in there, with the rebar connected to the rest of garage floor. Then poured concrete in there and let it cure for two weeks. Then I did the rest of the MaxJax installation myself borrowing a hammer drill from a neighbor.
I ordered a Quick Jack two days ago from Costco. They lowered the price $200 to $999, with free shipping. I should have it next week.
Once my car is up on jack stands, I’m perfectly comfortable getting under it and working. By comfortable, I mean mentally, hard cement is never soothing to my 66 year old bones. It’s jacking it up to put it on stands that’s nerve racking. And then repeating the back and forth to finally get it back down. It’s always a relief when those tasks are done. I’m looking forward to raising my car in one smooth motion.
I am a little concerned about not having side access between the axles to get underneath the car. How does that work for you QJ veterans?
Just purchased mine on Black Friday from Home Depot for $1099 and $30 off coupon they sent in the mail. (It was $1050 two weeks before Thanksgiving which i missed out on) I can't wait to use mine. I think the first couple of jobs that need to be completed it will pay for itself.
I have dumb question but would you happen to have a picture of how the block from underneath? As I don't have the QJ yet I wanted to get a visual of how it is supposed to be. Last thing i need is raising it on the oil drain plug. Thanks!

My 996 on QJ 7000xl with the SUV adapters. Lots of room for trans drop, and should be enough for engine drop. Will likely be trying an engine and trans drop on my 964 C4.
