Can’t say that the Kuehl was a dramatic upgrade. The build quality is very good though and longevity is likely much better. Given the royal pain of replacing, it was worth it to me to use the best possible part.

I am not asking this as a leading question I am interested to know how many here have found leaks in their evaporator? I would also be interested to know where else you all personally found leaks on your cars

Good to know. I am removing my sunroof on my C2 so the A/C is going back in and I will consider the updates before I reinstall everything.
It appears the shape of the Kuhel unit is different yet says it is drop in. Is it? Does it have all the mounting points as needed to fit and hold the fan in place? My unit is in good condition was in the car for less than 40k miles but If I am going to reinstall the A/C I want the most out of it I can get.

True to form: AC work continues to bite me. I seem to have managed to break/twist the schraeder valvles on the compressor while installing the R134a adapters. Unbelievable...
I think I'm going to wait for warm weather to continue to check for leaks. My presumption is that the system will evacuate itself before too long. I'll be pleasantly surprised if I need to do it myself. Oh well.. watch and

Yeah I find I have more use for A/C than a sunroof. 1st world problems, if I want my head exposed I'll take the boxster. The 981 GTS is a great little drop top toy. Takes nearly the same time to drop the top as the sunroof does to open on these cars. LOL

Funny I found the R12 system to work better than the R134. All my cars are 93 or newer so they all came with R134. It is great when driving but not so much in traffic. I found the R12 wasn't as good when driving but better in traffic. Although these cars don't like super hot days and sitting in traffic. The R134 needs the engine revs to get the pressure up to work. Ironically I have 60 pounds of R12 and no cars to use it in. I would stay with R12 If they were. Also the condensers are very different on the R12 vs R134 cars.
Edit: I will add that R12 I believe releases ozone to the environment and R134a releases something else (don't hold me to what that is) so from an environmental perspective there's a clear case for R134a

Reading some generic R134a conversion advice I'm kinda pissed I left the old Shraeders in place. My instinct was to remove them as the adaptors have schraeders and o-rings but I checked with the mfgr and they said leave them. I guess I should have clarified that my system was empty so removing them would be easy. Anyway I'm looking forward to the forecast 71deg Sunday to see how the system performs.

Update: i am not an idiot. Company wrote apologizing they gave incorrect install advice and confirmed the original shraeder needs removed.

48f vent with 70ambient and low humidity. Not icebox but inside Porsche’s r134 specs. The stock system moves a respectable amount of air compared to the 3.2.
