Yep, can be done and not that hard actually. The hardest part was removing the clamps for the primary muffler. I ended up having to cut the bolts and install new. Once the muffler is off there is enough room. I even did the chain cover gaskets wo getting the bumper off.
However, it would all have been easier with the bumper off - but where is the challenge in that.

This is definitely possible to do on your own.

Adding a rennline reinforcement bracket to my mount was the first thing I ever welded (it’s not pretty, but that’s what grinders and black paint are for).
And, yes, having done this engine drop dozens of times; never hesitate to remove the rear bumper for any maintenance, and always make sure the engine mounts are good and off-loaded before removing the bolts.

I've had the rear bumper off before, but cool to not have to go through all that. Thanks

That was my first thought as well.

Oh wow, that is absolutely correct and I am only realizing it now! That's a major facepalm moment for me then

Well, expensive lesson and it will be fixed soon.

For anyone else approaching removal of the nuts to the factory mounts: I just dropped my motor and found those motor mount bolts resisting me more than anything else on the whole drop. I reached for Big Nasty, the ugly, cheesy and massively powerful Harbor Freight 120v impact, which has never met its match. It brapped those nuts off right quick with no bending.
