Which issue was this in?

Does the article mention which seat specifically weighs 50 lbs?

I've got no skin in this game, but I've got a spare set of standard seats in my garage and a hanging scale. I could settle this when I get home in a few hours...

Hah me either but I always like to learn when the information is available. I also had a subscription to 000 but let it lapse, but it would be cool to get the back issue containing this info.

Sorry for the OT

Thanks for doing that. That’s some serious heft!

Argh my Targa has the heated seats too, that has to be another 5 lbs at least. Crazy heavy

No doubt a silippery slope when you start diving into these details.

Issue 009, I think.

That article was a crazy amount of work to put together on the part of the author and the photographer, but a lot of fun too. People from Weissach-Flacht were caught off guard by it.

Will be available individually here once it's a back issue:

Cool, thanks Pete. I was on the website earlier and couldn’t find anything, glad it will be available soon. Keep up the good work.

I too stripped the head of one of my seat bolts no big deal I think I run down to local hardware store buy a replacement bolt like the ones above the problem was the head of the bolts was too tall and the seat wouldn’t go all the way back

This is where you take out the one bolt that is very far forward on the inside rear seat rail. I don't like to do that, but you can move that second bolt farther back if need be.

Pete's right, #9 page 28. I got my issue last week. And the 8 way power seats were 55 lbs.

I noticed on my car that the stock bolts without the lock washer do not have much clamping force due to the underside of the bolt head chamfer contacting the seat rail. So the heads have to low enough to allow for a lock washer (which is a good idea anyway.) I haven’t had any problems accessing the torx heads BTW. Little tight and I don’t remember which tools I used but it works out. I still vote for torx in this location. It really sucks when these really strip badly. One of mine was put in cross threaded by a hamfisted mechanic! He also cross threaded the O2 sensor....

Pete
