I’m getting a 964. What mods/ tunes should I get that are effective and adds power. I’m also getting coilovers.

chane up steering wheel to momo of ur choice

swap OEM rims for something lighter

redo engine mounts

Steering wheel adds power?

For more power:

Steve Wong Chip
Exhaust mods - sport cat + something.

Drop A/C if you don't need it.

If you really want to get carried away - rebuild the engine with 3.8L jugs.

Do you have much 911 driving experience? Do you plan to keep the car for awhile? If you're new to 911/964s I would say just drive it for a while and enjoy the unique experience it offers. You can spend a lifetime trying to become a better 911 driver. It's such a rewarding experience, driving any of them.

Most will have a couple thousand dollars worth of deferred maintenance that would be good to get caught up on first.

They are solid cars worth investing time in and money on. Yes, stock they are soft and not super raw, so they respond especially well to all kinds of suspension mods.
Enjoy getting used to the car first, keep reading as many RL threads as possible, then you will know exactly what mods that will be most important to you.

Definitely create a thread when you get it, so we can follow the journey along with you. Good luck!

Horsepower in a 964 is very expensive.

Taking out weight is free.

Suspension and brakes, if you have to spend money, is best bang for the buck.

Start with weight and suspension. If for whatever reason you need at some point to rebuild the motor, look to increase hp then if need be...but you can throw 15-25k into finding horsepower, and that won't have given you as much as 5k in suspension modification...not to mention that if you had spent 20k looking for hp,you would have had to have spent the 5k on suspension to remotely enjoy it...

So first things first.

It is important to remember that it is a Porsche 911 and nothing that bumps hp for real is going to be cheap... or it would have been done at the factory...
Loose weight to improve the hp vs # ratio and be very careful when it comes to promises of significant gains...

Always fun to force some air, in addition to what has already been said. Also, look at the ROW 964 specs as there are some great improvements that were standard in the non-us models.
