Default Oil leak from oil thermostat - please help diagnosing

Hey RL, I have an oil leak, and was hoping you could help me with the fix.

It's coming from the oil thermostat (I think), and don't know if it's a matter of a new hose, new hardware, or just tightening the bolts.

Has anyone seen this, and what would you recommend for a fix?

Thank you!

-Skylar

First thing I'd do is buy a few cans of degreaser, spend an afternoon with the wheel off and clean everything up. Then you can see exactly where it's coming from.

If it is just leaking from that union nut circled you could try tightening it a bit maybe. There is a washer between the nipple and thermostat but the oil looks to be dripping down

Degrease, then tighten the large nut. Often the simplest answer is the correct one. If someone has changed the oil lines the nut could well be lose. Ask me how I know.

That hose is prone to leaks, and is a common item to replace. Take Dingo's advice to clean the area, but also look further up that hose to see if it is wet with oil. If the hose is the cause, replace it, not that bad of a job. There are many thread on here explaining how to do that and also how to manufacture your own replacement hose using the old brass ends.
Please check post # 11 in THIS THREAD for information on making your own hose.

If you are going to replace that hose over the wheel arch, I documented the best option here, and all the bad options I found at the time....
