Rear Reflector Rehab

This thread is a continuation of the monster "Rear Center Light Substitution Panel" Thread (https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...-panel-40.html) and will primarily focus on the rehabilitation of existing (salvageable) panels and building a complete new-design plug-n-play panel replacement. Although the previous panels are not available anymore, I can still provide help with parts, wiring and setup. STL files are available upon request.

Let's start. Here is where I am right now. The panel is sealed and painted. Hardware TBD.

Which one

personally I like the finer grained screen better. It’s business-like but subtle; as with the 964 NB itself. OTOH for an outlaw or a flash widebody the bigger vents would work.

Just got through the original thread. Andrew, you are a Craftsman in the finest sense of the word. Unfortunately, I do not have a 964, but that did not prevent me from sharing in the excitement with all of you as I went through all 40 pages of the original thread. What a product! So, my question is, is there any chance something like this will be made available for a 993? Please????

964Andrew 10-01-2018 12:16 AM

Thank you for the kind words. It was and still is a fun project for me. Time allowing I would like to do more of projects like that. 993 would be easy conversion as well, just need to get my hands on a reflector and measure everything underneath.

Thanks!
Andrew

^Nice! Hope you don't mind if I borrow that idea. I have a spare badge.

Did you do anything to tidy up the 'stuff' that was left after removing the OEM light piece? There's some sort of aluminum flashing.

Silvertarga 10-25-2018 02:44 PM

This is a mesh screen installed over the old light piece after the lens is removed from it , that aluminum flashing is heat shielding (debateable if it works or not as heat causes many issues with the center reflector)
all I had to do was install the mesh on the old light box , and refit it to car

Thanks and dont forget to post pics of the final product.

Still working out the kinks of the prototype. Getting designs ready for laser cutting, also - I think I'm close on the hardware. I really like how the flush bolts sit in the frame. Let me know what you think.

Hardware looks good.

I like it, looks like a shell casing, almost a 45-70
