Default 997 Cup e-power steering pump

I don’t see many threads on the installation of e-power steering pumps so I will document my installation.

Steering rack installations have been covered before, so I will leave it at - I replaced the 964 rack with a 993 rack for no other reason than I wanted to.

Dawes in Pennsylvania makes a great bit of kit for the 997 pump and I will be using it for my installation. I will document as I go along.

993 steering rack and Rothsport rack brace.

Hoses from the Dawes kit.

Drilled holes to the frunk.

The Dawes “pump bracket/cup”.

And this is what it is supposed to look like when completed...

http://www.dawesmotorsports.com/. You have to call them - they do not advertise their kits.

How does the wiring work with these pumps? Also if you can- what is the overall height installed?

Cool stuff. Been debating the same mod myself.

Pretty sure that's a TRW/Astra pump if anyone is looking to do the same (as the cup) on the cheap.

I wish it would be possible to separate the reservoir.

I have a Mercedes A-class pump sitting in the garage from when I had more time and ambition to wrench on the car.

if possible, please provide detailed information on wiring it all up.

The wiring is what has been lacking in previous threads and is something I will document diligently. It will be a day or two before I get there.

With the engine in, removing the old mechanical steering pump is a pain in the neck to speak mildly. I couldn’t have done it without a lift. But I got it done and plugged with the Rothsport aluminum cover.

Remove the mechanical pump.

Remove the 3 bolts and the one hex bolt.

Old mechanical pump out with some persuasion.

Rothsport plug.

Vandit- check this thread for the a-class pump specifics:

https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...-refurb-7.html

Rob used an empty relay slot in the fuse box and basically wired the pump to the ecu just as the fuel pump.

Today I basically only took care of removing all the old lines. Tomorrow I will wire the pump. One wire to ground, one wire direct to batttery (with 80 amp fuse) and one wire to switched power on.

How difficult is it pulling the lines? I bet it feels great eliminating a lot of the front to back stuff.
