Default PHIL RABY , or anyone that can help

read with interest the article on the trafficmaster , gps thingy .

seriously considering one of these , especially with the tracking option .

but .......... in the article it mentions a windscreen mounted ariel for the phone connection .
the mag only showed a picture of a neat little gps ariel ........

is this because the screen mounted phone ariel is a hugh monstrosity ???

Hi Ian

It's about 8in long and 5mm thick - a black rod basically (no, not the bloke in parliament). Mine is stuck on the right-hand side of the screen near the edge. It's not ugly but a bit intrusive where it is. I plan to move it right to the edge of the screen so it's practically out of sight and less noticeable than the GPS aerial.

I really like the Smartnav system - can't recommend it highly enough (and I've no connections with the company.

Cheers

I forgot to say, if you have a GSM aerial already (for an old car phone) you can use that.

Cheers

Phil,
Can you post a picture? I also read the article with interest and was scanning the photos looking for the ariel - I also thought it sounded a bit horrid and might put me off buying one.......

I have a remote GPS aerial on the rear parcel shelf. Another option.

I have the same thing for my Camera detector. It's the GSM ariel that concerns me.

Car's away having an MoT this morning. I'll take a pic later. It's really not a concern, though.
