but .......... in the article it mentions a windscreen mounted ariel for the phone connection .
the mag only showed a picture of a neat little gps ariel ........
is this because the screen mounted phone ariel is a hugh monstrosity ???

It's about 8in long and 5mm thick - a black rod basically (no, not the bloke in parliament). Mine is stuck on the right-hand side of the screen near the edge. It's not ugly but a bit intrusive where it is. I plan to move it right to the edge of the screen so it's practically out of sight and less noticeable than the GPS aerial.
I really like the Smartnav system - can't recommend it highly enough (and I've no connections with the company.
