Steering Wheel Question
Might have located an air bag steering wheel from a 1992 C2 Turbo.Would like to replace the stock 4 spoker on my 1990 C4 with a 3 spoker. Is this a direct replacement without any modifications and is the turbo wheel a 3 spoker. Would like some info before I contact the seller. If it is a 3 spoker does anyone have any pics they can post.
Thanks in advance

Dear Alan,
Do you have airbags at the moment? The standard Turbo steering wheel is the same as the 4-spoke C2 and C4 airbag steering wheels.
If you do not have airbags, the 4-spoke airbag steering wheel will not fit without an adapter. The steering wheel arm is different.
The ROW 964 Speedster non airbag 3-spoke wheel is the one I want to get my hands on.

Adrian

Dear Ian,
ROW means rest of the world version as opposed to USA, Canada and Japanese versions.
ROW Speedster 3-spoke steering wheel was only fitted to Speedsters not sold to the USA and not sold into other countries where airbags were mandatory. It gets complicated around model year 1993.

Dear Pierre,
I do not have a photo handy. I wish I could describe them but you are going to have to search around a bit. I cannot lay my hands on a picture right now. These wheels I talk about are covered wheels they are not sports wheels. They also have a Porsche crest in the triangular centre.

the same as a 968 / 928 / rs wheel ??
there is a picture on the PET disc , in teqeuipment , of the 964 rs , and 993 rs non-airbag wheels .
from what i've been told , the genuine porsche one has the crest embosed , whereas the aftermarketr version as a coloured crest .
did you see the red twin turbo lightweight in latest issue of 911+porker (the one that phil raby posted a thread on ???
i was told this was the aftermarket version .

The one I have fitted was an original RS type with the Porsche badge embossed on horn pad.
Just curious if this is the same as the sort of Wheel you mentioned.
I got hold of the wheel but was short of the internal bits for the horn. Luckly I was able to obtain bits by a UK supplier of the steering wheels who got hold of a job lot from the manafacturers ATIWE.
I understand he still has some of the originals (stitching was different on some of the later issues you see advitised) - but limited colour range.

Dear Pierre,
Similar but not quite. I helped somebody years ago find one of these steering wheels and missed out for myself. The horns of the wheel are more triangular and raised. Maybe a little thinner as well.
I am off to bed soon but I will try and dig up an image.
