Hey Guys,

I've been in touch with Denis and he is open to the idea but would need to buy out his business partner. to achieve this. He's not sure he would be able to keep the original pricing of $129 and was looking for ideas as to
a. How to get the videos on line
b. How much is it worth for a download of the full series.
I suspect if we could get 50 takers he would be able to do it for the original $129 but for 30 he was suggesting $199 which I think is a little high.

Thoughts?

Neil

Is the aftermarket supply of the original DVD sets so poor that you have to go to such lengths?

I have a set. I used it during my rebuild and will use it over the NZ Summer for the second rebuild but then it’s surplus. If you all have similar uses then it seems more efficient to buy a set and sell it on to others, rather than own a set each.

How about a Kickstarter campaign? He could name his target and we all who want the DVDs pledge and see where we go. If there is enough interest, perfect. Personally, I think even $200 is a fair price for the set.

I think someone who went through the effort of creating something useful for the community should get rewarded appropriately.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Default DVD engine rebuilding

I’d be interested in group buy but really only need engine rebuild since I have a 72 chassis.

I think that's a great idea! I'd definitely be game. Plus this way he would have a hard dollar number that he can work with, not just talk (not that those that say they'd buy won't but it would guarantee him the funds)

I bought the P fix it DVD,s and had them shipped to Scotland, this was over a year ago, neither of them will play on any DVD player, even a multi region DVD player or a laptop, it appears I’ve got 2 very expensive blank disks, I never did get a reply to my emails.

Hi All,
We have made our videos including the engine rebuild available again. Thanks Neil (rotorheadcase), and Andrew(964Andrew) for letting me know that some folks are interested in the engine rebuild video.

If you have questions or concerns, please let us know at www.pfixit.com so we can take care of it.

We did raise the price to $199.99.

Wow, the comments and speculation above are interesting, here's some updates:
1. I am not a mechanic, just play one on TV/video. Proving my point, with patience we can all do this and save all the labor cost of a rebuild.
2. We decided to shut down sales on Pelican Parts and www.pfixit.com as there was no demand for several months and speaking for myself, very busy with day job and weekends with my beautiful family. Pelican Parts was great to work with by the way.
3. I sold the car with 48,000 miles on the engine rebuild and it ran beautifully, in fact, I received many compliments on how smooth it ran and the acceleration it had from experts that drove it. It was my third 911, there will be more.

Thanks, Denis
