any used set for sale? what happened to Denis? anyone?

John McM 05-23-2018 07:43 PM

I'm surprised these are no longer available.

I have a PFixit DVD set and used it amongst other sources for my rebuild. I may use it again for my current rebuild, but it's not well formatted in my opinion as you have to search through the DVDs for particular steps.

I put a lot of rebuild posts in my C4 light refurb thread https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...refurb-42.html and may do a specific thread for this rebuild as I refer to my own work rather than repeat the research BUT I'm the first to admit I'm an amateur so wear your big boy pants if using my info. I did end up with an engine that started and is leak free so I can't have got it too wrong!

What is your timeframe and where are you located?

I am new to flat six too and can use any resource possible, but man! those samples on youtube make me want them.

Located in Kuwait, still couple of months before project starts.

The DVDs are good as a starter, especially if you learn visually. Check out my thread if you have the time. You'll need to buy a few specialist tools and that will take time. Good Luck.

Quick scan to your thread and already got interested. I will go through it (many times) for sure.

Thank you

5 - Timing Chain Housing
6 - Rocker Arms
7 - Camshaft & Sprocket Assembly

They are reasonably comprehensive. If I was critiquing them I would say:
1. Make the chapters shorter so there is less to wade through when doing a rebuild in a piecemeal basis.
2. Give an online viewing option for DVD buyers
3. Put every torque setting in the descriptions; and
4. Don't skip over tasks e.g. he was having problems with the piston circlip, then the video jumps to it completed. That's cheating and it's a vital step!
