What have you got?
What do you sugest?
Do you have the gear numbers of each (like 13/28)?
I have a program to chart them if I get the numbers.
Anything will be a big improvement over my 91 C2 Turbo gears. I think I like the C4 gears as it keeps my rpm drop low between 1st & second.
I will be keeping my 12/42 first gear.
Thanks Keith.

Dear Keith,
I have not got any of them I do not deal in spares. I am asking because you need to be specific.
You obviously do not have my book because the gear ratios for every gearbox is included in a chart.
I would recommend the Swiss G50/04 ratios.
Ciao,
Adrian

Thank you.
Not many Swiss gears sets here in Califorina.
Would lke your book though. where is the best place to get it in USA?
Keep up the good work.
If you have the USA C2 & C4 ratios handy would be nice. I have them in a nurmaical fromat but need the fraction to use my gear ploting program.

Dear Keith,
The book is the easy part, www.bentleypublishers.com.
Okay here is the Swiss C4 G64/01 gearset ratios by teeth.
1st 41:13
2nd 36:19
3rd 36:27
4th 36:35
5th 33:38
Swiss G50/04 is the same as the Swiss G64/01
If you want to look at the Carrera RS the G50/10
1st 41:13
2nd 36:19
3rd 38:27
4th 38:35
5th 33:38
Swiss gearsets are rare in Switzerland as well.
The late model or G50/05 USA only gearbox is (same as the G50/03),
1st 42:12
2nd 35:17
3rd 38:27
4th 38:35
5th 33:38
Interestingly all the gearboxes have a final drive ratio of 31:9 except the G50/05 which is 30:9.
Hope this helps,
Ciao,
Adrian.

Yes,
CarQuip.com
I dont know what transmission is what by Type number.
Still trying to find what the USA C2 & C4 gear ratios in fraction format is (like 12/42)
I have a 91 C2 Turbo and the gears are for ghth speed cruse'n.
Prety sure a set of USA C4 gears would transform my car.

Hmmmmm, Keith, what are your gear ratios?? I'm not sure that the C2Turbo had different gear ratios??
I know the C2/C4 boxes differ SLIGHTLY, but not enough to make any difference in my book - seriously, do the math!
What I would be interested is in a 993 6spd conversion with the Euro box! Now that's smokin'.

Dear Keith,
I just had a look at the G50/52 compared to all the rest and the Turbo is quite similar to the Swiss sets anyway. The main diferences being 4th and 5th as compared to the Swiss units.
You need the gear ratios G50/05 or G64/00 boxes.
I am afraid I do not understand what you mean by fractions that you keep mentioning. I only have the ratios and the number of teeth per gear.

Adrian, by fractions he means 42:12 is 42/12= 3.5 so a G50/04 gear box in "fractions" is
1st 3.154
2nd 1.895
3rd 1.333
4th 1.029
5th 0.868
When you do it this way and add in the final ring & pinion and tire diameter you can calculate speed from rpm. I have a spreadsheet that does this if anyone wants a copy. It also has most of the G50 ratios (from the service manual). I created this when I had my 993 re-geared to shorter gearing.

Dear Tom,
I have those figures, that to me is the gearbox ratio 3.154:1, based on number of teeth. All those are in my book along with all the final drive ratios.
A fraction and a ratio are two different things to me anyway. Terminology mix up here.
