crazy dizzy price
I just spoke with my OPC for an exchange distibutor for my car as I am not sure of the belt condition,I was quoted a wopping £590 + vat for a distibutor.I then called my Porsche specialist Autostrasse, Coggeshall,Essex who quoted me £150 +vat, now heres a thing..its the same UNIT
I will get the entire job done with parts and labour for £200 plus vat which includes the vent kit

This happened to me. They do not make it clear that you then have to return your old unit & they give you some money back. Cost me approx £350 in the end for the Porsche reconditioned unit which appears to be all new except for the outer casing. Usually the units from independants just contain a new belt.

Have you read through Adrian's chapter in the book on this. If i remember rightly he has a DIY guide to doing the belt. Did not go into to much detail myself when reading as it did not apply to the 964 turbo. I have not got the book to hand at the moment so cannot tell you which chapter to refer back to, left in round at the in laws accidentally last week.

Dove,
It is not an easy job and I have watched my mechanic doing it myself, unless you are a good mechanic youeself. I would say you mind as well hand over the money and have an exchanged unit for the peace of mind.
happy new year!~
