Sorry for the delay, I've been travelling.

The issue appeared on my car when one of the breather hoses was "mis-routed" by yours truely, and that hose was pressing against the AFM connector. Once I routed it correctly, the problem went away. It was really frustrating at the time.

So my car is finally running again! Smooth as silk!
I decided to take the car to Nineauto and get the pros to diagnose the issue.
Turns out the ECU was malfunctioning so the unit was removed and sent of to Injectronics who re-mapped the unit at no cost
as it was still under warranty (12 month warranty & sent to them to fix on the last day before warranty expired)
Once the unit was reinstalled it ran ok but still didnt hold idle... so I replaced the Idle Control Valve ($143 AU from Auto Sensors Berlin)
and now she runs like a dream.
