Arjan,
I really enjoyed your post unfortunately I went to look at my car afterward and found that it has a little of the same disease. The PO replaced the window but there is no evidence of any type of sealer application. I found two small bubbles on the passenger side. How hard is it to remove the windshield? It looks like the double locking style on my 63 stingray. Thanks , Harpreet

Hsb, Your windows you have to remove by cutting the seal in pieces with a box cutter/nife. Cut a 360 on the windscreen thru the rubber seal and the window can be pushed out to the outside. So the same for the rear window. [WATCH FOR THE WIRES OF THE WINDOW HEATING, THEIR IN THE SEAL COVERED!!] Then buy one or two new seals.
If you have small bubbles. much more will be under the seal. If you wait too long, then rust wil damage the pillars forever and you have to weld pieces new metal in. Mine was still ok, but I shouldn't wait another wear they said.
It's a lot of money, I know, but it's worth it. It doesn't matter if yu sell the car or keep it, the value will be more at a well cared car.

HSB.
The windscreen may or maynot be easy, it depends upon whether it has been out before, or glued in properly.
What ever though, get a new seal to put in, the old one will most likely be stretched and not sit properly once disturbed.
I had a new one fitted with my screen, and dispite assurances about being bonded in, the fitters did not do so.
A call is about to be made.

Thanks for the advice, It looks like mine has been replaced and there is no evidence of any glue. It is interesting that corvettes in the late 60's and 70's have similar problems with the frame. No real rust problems since GM started using adhesives. Harpreet
