Over heated front engine/transmission mount which is made from rubber. The old tranny can get pretty hot.

I took the car out again today and the clutch is definatly ok,The vibration is still there but only on hard acceleration whilst taking a bend.I'm starting to think maybe this is the very low suspension on maybe not so good shocks,is it possible that under hard acceleration with a crappy suspension set up that the car is maybe bouncing on the shocks due to lack of travel??I am going to take the car to autostrasse next week end for a check up.
I will be a bit more carefull when taking off in the future.I'm not into wheel spinning everywhere but this goon in a blacked out Golf GTI with blond bimbo started the abuse and yeh you know the rest and yeh when my clutch finally hooked up I blew him away. How hard is it not to take the bait with the max power spotty brigade .

Good luck on the diagnosis. Hopefully the repairs won't break the bank.

A burning clutch also smells very much like burning rubber.
I won't tell you how I know...
That's why I had Jeff help me install a new clutch in my car.

I'm sure you know this, but you are in a no win situation when you succumb to the rice brigade. Let them have the monopoly on neon lights and dark tint - whatever floats their boat. Just beware that 964's are great cars but aren't the quickest 0-60 beasts around.

I did drop the clutch once on my C4 and the smell was horrible, less than 1000Km later suddenly the gear were not engaging and later the car wouldn´t move, the result new clutch.
I´ll never do that again. The only positive thing the DMF was checked and it was fine so no need to replace.
