Default 964 RS Rear Window

993 owner here, visiting with hopes that one of you fine 964 folks could answer a question for me. Can anyone confirm if the 964 RS rear window (964-545-107-08 now superseded to 964-545-107-10) comes with defrost lines?

I'm looking to install a 964 rear window in my 993 as I prefer how it's set in a seal rather than adhesive (I can install it myself and don't need to mess with templates). I believe that the 964 RS glass would be ideal as it's thinner/lighter and doesn't have the 3rd brake light screening, but i havent been able to determine if it has defrost (which I'd prefer to keep).

Thanks.

the "real" rear RS glas has no defrost lines... No hole, no defrost lines and it is thinner..

I've seen original RS rear glass WITH defrost lines. But that is no longer being made. The only kind you can get these days is the one without defrost.

Yes, original RS rear screen has the defrost heating elements, but the RS doesn't have the wiring or switchgear to connect it up. Also no hole for rear wiper.

Thanks for the replies, sounds like if I order a 96454510710 from Porsche it will now come without defrost, bummer.

I'll go with the full thickness euro window, or I'll see what Pilkington Classics will make. I also see a company named Stuttgart Classics offers thin RS glass with defrost as an option.

I wish somebody would measure the RS touring (M002) rear glass with the defrost option because it always had the same part number as the regular thickness glass with defrost option used by the C2/C4.

Hi Top-Gun,
I have both 993RS and 964RS, so the info above is correct on the 964 RS element no wiring on N-GT, the UK RS Touring has wiring and elements and it works as per the C2/C4 de misting. The Touring also has thinner on glass on the side glazing as per LWT. The 993RS has no elements in the glass and no wiring, my car is one of the first 50 and have been told it has the same glass as the 993 Cup cars of the time, the later 993RS's may have had different glass for rear.
So there we are, 3 different RS's, 3 different rear glass combo's.

Thanks for that information, nice to have the real deals for reference.

If I'm understanding this correctly, it sounds like the 964 RS touring came with a thin version of the euro rear glass (with defrost and no wiper hole or CHMSL) which is no longer available? The PET now lists 96454510704 for the RS touring as well as the regular euro c2/c4, which I presume is standard thickness.

I was also under the impression that the 993 CUP cars used 964 glass, however ive been studying some pictures and now I'm not so sure. Does your 993RS have a bonded screen with the thin 993 rubber trim or does it look like a 964 with the fatter gasket?
