Cool Got my personalized plates!

I ordered a set of Lake Tahoe License Plates that benefit the Tahoe Conservancy Account for preservation and restoration projects in the Lake Tahoe area. Plus, the plates are pretty, and look nice on my 964!

Not the most original or clever plates, but a definite improvement over the ones that were issued: 2UGG442. UGG? I think not!

Here's a closeup of the plate:

Great plate!

Our plates in PA are so boring (White, Yellow and Blue), I opted for a D.A.R.E. Plate (Drug Abuse Resistance Education), good cause but also nice looking, black plate with white and red lettering.

Very nice, Melissa ... a nice design. Massachusetts limits us to 6 & the first 3 have to be letters, iirc. Not much better than letting a computer pick sometimes. J

Nice plate, Melissa.

Years back, when I first got my 964, I thought of getting a '964' plate. Back then, hardly anyone would realise what the numbers meant, so it was a subtle idea.

In the end, I went for a '911' plate, but that can look a bit too 'obvious'.

P.S. White 964s are really growing on me.

Even the Blue Shadow (who has an aversion to white cars) is starting to agree.

Years ago with my first 911, clear back in 1970 before vanity plates, when you had to go stand in line at DMV to get your plates, I happened to be in line when there were giving out the MVPXXX series of number. And to my surprise they wanted to give me MVP 903. I smiled at the girl waiting on me and asked, "...could I please have MVP 911...". She got my drift, and sure enough for the rest of the time I drove that Slate Grey 911 Targa it had Texas license plate number "MVP 911".

Now we pay for those vanity plates....

Jrb964, great story! I'll bet you enjoyed having that plate everytime you stepped in or out of your car, or walked by it in the garage!

JohnB, people still don't know what a 964 is -- maybe it's a bit too subtle. As far as white goes -- it's a great color because:
1. It ages well
2. It doesn't show dirt
3. It's almost invisible to the law enforcement types (touch wood)

JoeW, I'll bet we can come up with something the Massachusetts DMV would approve. As we mentioned, 964 isn't well known, so there are your first three numbers. Now you just need the last three letters!

Brad, beautiful car-- love the green! Do you have a pic of your DARE plate?

Well Jon, since you asked, here goes:

Yes, it could mean a lot of things -- that's one of the beauties of the frame. I think it would be a totally cool license plate frame for someone who's rescued a car from rot and transformed it into a beauty.

In my case, tho, its meaning is religious. I am a born-again Christian who made a radical departure from my previous way of life. My heart aches for Adrian and his family, as I could have easily met the same fate that his daughter Natalie did.

Anyway, I like having this license plate frame on my 911 (cab, no less), because in most people's stereotype of a Christian, they don't drive Porsches! (Well, unless they're a televangelist who rakes in the $$. )

OK, now back to your regularly scheduled Porsche content....

Hey Mel,

Since you're not in California, feel free to use it! We could even start a Mel 964 registry.

Melissa - nice word of encouragement. On the back of my '80SC is the small tag that says "Real Men Pray"

Real men are nuts over P-Cars too.

It was actually "...David's triumph was heard throughout the land...."

What was omitted that Joseph's tennis equipment was in the back seat as "....Joseph served in Pharohs court..."
