Very nice.
They should be tearing mine apart this week, and inspecting everything. Even if its just a pilot bearing Im ordering mine soon. Going to be a while at paint and body, gonna need it in by the time theyre putting everything back together.

That is a nice unit. I would really like to eliminate weight and these are heavy. Is Constantine thinking of making one in Carbon Fiber? That would drop 80lbs.

People already think we are expensive.
The price of a well engineered 944 CF TT would probably buy a few 944s.

I have three of these and Constantine is one of the very finest Porsche Vendors available period! Everything is top notch with excellent communication! If you build the CF unit I will pay for it.

I weighed my assembly last month on a bathroom scale and it was 82lbs. I am looking at doing CF for the TT and early indication is about 3-4K from a reputable driveline shop in NC.

after reading this i just now went out to the garage with bathroom scale in hand and weighed the complete TT by itself, and then again with me holding it and subtracting my own weight.
both times, 59.8 lbs for a complete 944 torque tube with 4 bearings and driveshaft installed.
my tube is an early model though (pre-85.5 i guess) but i can't imagine the crash hooks added 20 lbs...

I have CF mast production facility 50 meters from where I work. I'll ask them if it's doable and how much.

how big a CF tube is needed to equate in strength/stiffness to a 3" ID steel tube with 3/16 wall?
the stock TT is a monster for strength...if you could balance it side to side, you could probably support the car on jack stands under the tube alone.

If dimensions were retained 100% same, CF TT would be ≥10 times stronger than steel.

One thing to bear in mind, since I don't know if CF has any "give" to it...
TonyG found that the steel torque tube/driveshaft does bend under heavy load as a reaction to the torque at the axles with the front end fixed to the engine. So it either needs to have some give, or you might need to tweak the transaxle mounting to allow some "give" if the TT is too stiff to flex.
