How many more cfm of air will an extrudehoned intake manifold flow compared to a stock manifold?
Given the proper head/cam mods...what kind of power gains would it give?

Is it still $500 to Extrude Hone an intake ? I don't think you will gain much cfm at all. I had my turbine done, it just smoothed out the rough spots and did not increase size.
For the same $500, places CMW or PD will cut apart the intake and equal out the flow.

David, I was not aware of these places offering "cut it opn" service. Its something I have thought about. My only concern is that after they have flow matched all the runners and they weld it back together, would the welds not create turbulant air in the manifold and create flow problems?

This is why I was asking...

I guess I'll spend my money elsewhere.
When they flow match the manifold, do they increase the diameter of the piping at all? Or do anything to increase flow?
thanks,
Adrial

I've had some small block Ford stuff done in the past and saw 10% flow gains. I've heard (from a respected 951 tuner) that unless you are really pushing the envelope on your motor package the actual HP gains on a 951 manifiold are minimal at best.

Adrial, the Extrude Hone will not enlarge the intake much at all and it will still have uneven flow.
968TurboS, I would think the welds would be addressed, maybe check with www.cmwmotorsports.com or Performance Developments

I was asking about the service that cuts apart the manifold and equalling out the flow, if they do anything more than just equal out the flow.

I dont buy that for a minute. It is worthwhile to have rebuilable control arms, it is worthwhile to not use cheap *** clips on the heater, it is worthwhile not to build a DP that takes 14 hours to remove, it is worthwhile etc, etc, etc. If it was worthwhile your new 996 wouldnt have Continental tires on it that are widely held as total and complete junk. Just because Porsche didnt do it doesnt mean it isnt worthwhile.

Check out the Lindsey Intake manifold... I have it on my race engine. I have NO turbo lag at all .. I think this is an important part of the equation. 350 rwhp at 14 lbs of boost.

Being on SAE, I'm actually considering designing and building an intake manifold for myself... ![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I would rather buy something for cheap, though.
