Default Turbo mounting bolt 12.9 vs stainless?

I need to change my turbo mounting bolts and i´m wondering if changing to 12.9 grade or stainless is a good idea?

Regular steel, not stainless, because of how hot it gets over there...

8.8 should be fine. The bolt isn't under a lot of torque, just heat stress. Maybe enough to reduce the treatment/tempering of the 12.9?

People run SS exhaust header studs... bad idea?

I bought this kit last week, seems like a good deal. It's grade 10.9.

I think stainless steel bolts would work just fine but I would still use a 6 mm allen head bolt. Using stainless steel for the exhaust is fine as long as you don't use stainless steel nuts because stainless steel will weld to stainless steel when tightening without any kind of lubrication such as anti-seize. Copper nuts on stainless steel studs for the exhaust head studs should work perfect. If anybody doesn't believe me grab a piece of all thread stainless steel and a stainless steel nut without lubricant try to see how far that stainless steel nut will go down that stainless steel all thread before it welds itself and will not come off.

OK.
What about original length 125mm vs 130mm on aftermarket bolts?

As long as the bolt is not bottoming out on a hole you will be fine.

I thought the hole goes thru the base of the turbo CHRA housing? the real problem I've had was using none coated 12.9 bolts (the black ones) and they rusted to the turbo's CHRA housing. Real hard to drill out the bolt head, lots of stuff has to be removed and you'll still be drilling at an angle. So make sure what ever bolt it is it has a rust protective coating. That's no joke. I just bought new ones from Ian off eBay.
