Actually I sold it 4 years ago, it started misfiring after racing a Z and I took it to my mechanic and he said it had low compression of 25 lbs in #4, he said it was best to let her go, so I sold her to Mike Damiza up north who parted it out and also loved the wheels and kept them! Now I drive this...'08 Bmw 135i

I love it, 6 speed, 0-60 in 4.7 sec, 300hp/tq stock, max torque kicks in at 1,400 rpm, it was the closest thing i could find in size and performance to the 951 http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...t-specs-page-3

I'm sure with the N54 JB4 BMW Performance Tuner it would be even better!

Looking at the m5 really opened my eye to the pain and suffering the m3/5/6 have with rod bearing issues.
Now, I have to convince myself of letting go of the 951 and getting a bmw. I have my secret stash of go-fast-goodies for the 951 that i am planning to install. My issue is knowing I won't get that much more for the car with those mods makes me want to just sell everything and get into the 21'st century with a sportier car.

I think the wife would prefer a convertible to cruise in, I'll still install go fast goodies and not tell the wifey. We'll go drive one and see if we like it, then consider what to do with the 951.
I will bring the 951 out this weekend for a bath, claybar, compound, and polish after the long winter hibernation.

I'm custom Cobb tuned (280kw) and it is a real weapon now. If you change your mind on tuning down the track have a look at MHD which is the latest and greatest for the N54 platform. It lets you flash custom maps, log etc directly from an Android phone.

Pick of my "sold" 89 951 17 years past - time flies. Still spanking most on the roads in LA. Jeff built a 3.0 8V motor and she's still scaring new exotics on PCH. Should not have sold her - love the color!

I'm in a similar position to you. Ended up buying a 2008 135i about 18 months ago. They're a fantastic car and similar size to a 944. I'm sure you'd agree that the biggest difference is the engine. The N54 produces bucketloads of torque from down low but is still very smooth and linear.
