Do you see many 951's on the road?
I live in the DC area. Rarely do I ever see 951's on the road. I do see the occasional 944, even those are not a common occurance. 911's are everywhere.
Wondered if this was unique to this area, or true everywhere?

Re: Do you see many 951's on the road?
Also true in the Boston area. I don't see more than a few 951's on the road in an entire year...except at Rennlist gatherings!
In fact I see more Ferrari's than 951's. Have most of the 951's been trashed/crashed?

When I lived in San Francisco, one night I parked in the vicinity of Vallejo and Stockton streets in North Beach, and there were two other Guards Red early offset 951's parallel parked on the same block as my '86 red 951. Whoa!

I made a trip to Atlanta last week and on the way there and back I saw more 914's (2) than I did 951s. I did see one 944 as well on the trip. The 951 was a white one with black wheels in the Asheville, NC area. I saw on the way down all newer Porsches (993s, boxsters, 996s) and on the way back I saw all 80's model Porsches (the 944s, 911s, 928S). I think it just all depends on when and where you are and the luck of the draw. I know there are a TON of Porsches in this area, but sometimes I can go for a couple of weeks without seeing one and some days I see a bunch.
As for 951s, I remember it being said on here that only about 25,000 were made and of course not all of those came to the US and of course with attrition due to being worn out and wrecked and those made into racecars that many less are on the roads now. That makes these cars quite rare....

I've seen two 951s in the last week in my neighborhood, and I know of another a few blocks away. Plus I know a guy two blocks over that has a beautifully track-prepared 944. They're common as dirt in Toronto!

About two months ago I pulled up to a light on Broadway near downtown right next to a Gold 86 951(fuchs). It wasn't in the best shape, lots of small dents.
But I looked over and said, hey nice car.
The guy gave me the high hat. Didn't say a thing and just drove away and turned a block later.
Jeeez.
But I do see a gray early 944 almost every day and a red S2 at least a dozen times.

I see very few here in atlanta. In fact i owned a 87 N/A for years and only saw them from time to time.I got sick of the lack of power from my n/a and sold it, but intended to get a 951 later. It took about 4 years, but now I have one.
The reason I got it is becasuse they are rare. I see more new corvettes, mustangs and 911's here than Honda's. Its amazing how many threre are.
I figured I could get a high performance common car and spend the money for performance out of the box or slowly build myself a nice 951 since I see so few. Maybe 1 every 2 weeks.?

I know we have a few in our area but they are uncommon sight. Seen about two, mostly 944, per month. Mine is tucked away under cover. Although in excellent condition don't drive it more than once every two weeks or so. It gets a lot of stares when it's on the road

Blood- I may have seen you on 52 in the past year. I have a 951 and there are a number of us here in NC with them. Even at that, the 951 is becoming rarer by the day as more become track cars or are destroyed.

Jaxon, yes 951 seems to be rare in DC (streets suck so I dont blame them) but I do see some in No. VA in Tysons and Fairfax. I saw a nice one in Tysons one time with license plate 951 something....of course, I was in my daily driver.
If you ever see one with TRBO-S, that's me....

I think I've seen 2~3 other turbos (when not at a PCA/Rennlist gathering) in the last year arround Atlanta. I'll catch a 944 about once every 3~4 weeks and there's a 924 that lives arround me somewhere (I see the car parked at the same business most times I drive by it).
I do encounter a disproportionate number of VERY angry drivers who try to run me off the road or give me foul looks/finger gestures (happenes everytime I drive, and I'm a very calm/sedate driver when arround other traffic).

aside from the 944 that parks at my work, i see one 944 maybe every week or 2. almost all of them turn out to be beaters though i don't remember ever seeing another 951 on the road, now that i think about it.
