I can't remember the last time I saw another turbo just by happenstance. The only times I ever see another one it's got something to do with PCA or a rennlist gathering. BTW, I've driven mine to work four days this week, so I'm out there representin'.

I think I posted this earlier, but still very interesting list of 944 running in Germany. The death rate is alarming !

(e.g. still 193(!) 944 turbo cabrio as per 01.01.2003)
Here is the where they went when new:

But I see your point. I see waaaay more 911's than 951's. Regardless of vintage.

I've seen 3 others in the New Orleans/Northshore area not counting Abby's new requisition. One a Rennspeed edition (never heard of that) and 2 pure racecars. Seem to be hard to come buy in this area.

I've only seen maybe 3 or 4 here in the Chicago area. I think once it might have been evil 944t, after all, there can't bee too many white 951's out here. The last 2 I've seen have been since I sold my 951, cruel reminders of the car I'm missing

I am assuming that you guys are all comparing 911 MY86 through MY89 right? Well to be honest, I don't see any more 911's of that particular vintage than I do 944's....in fact, I see the occasional ragged-out 944 more than a 911 (of those years). And I see the same amount of TURBO 911's (again, of the same vintage '86 -'89) as I do 951's. To be fair, you must specify the year and model of the 911, as you are with the 944.
To say that you see more 911's than 951's is apples and oranges. They have produced more 911's than 944s. And it is also wrong to compare sightings of all 911's (grouped together) without differentiating model. Targa? Cabrio? I think you get my point.
...I didn't read this whole thread though, so if someone already made this distinction sorry for the repeat. I know what everyone is saying though, 951's on the road is rare....i agree.

I think that's because 911's are almost always bought by someone with the means and desire to maintain them properly, whereas a lot of 951's have fallen victim to dip**** owners, who could barely afford the car let alone the upkeep.

In Aus they are very rare and hard to see. I do see the odd one at my Porsche garage, but today i passed a white Turbo exactly like mine on the way to the car wash and on the way home saw a 944 on the side of the road so all in all it was a fine day for driving. Last week in the paper two Turbos were for sale a 1991 Black on black and a 90 red on black going for high $30's aus. They usually sell well here due to the limited availablilty. I sometimes go back and forth on the 911 purschase front but i find i get so many remarks on my car and see so few that it does feel like its a kinda Porsche elite thing to know about these cars let alone own one.

Other than mine and one of my friends, I have only seen one other 951 on the road.... Ever. Lot's of NA's though. The only P-car dealer in the state is just down the street from me. So I see dozens and dozens of Boxsters, 911's, Cayenne's etc... I can't wait to get my car going again, so I can mess with some of them.
