Default 2.8 Andial conversion 951 registry

Hi All,

I just acquire a 1986 Porsche 944 turbo Graphite Metallic that has been fitted soon after delivery (14,223Miles - in 1990) with the full Andial stroker conversion to make the engine a 2.8L.

This Kit is compose of the following:
- 3.0L 944 S2 crankshaft,
- Carillo rods,
- Mahle pistons which were custom made by Andial
- bigger K27 turbo
- custom tune was also installed

For some history here is the link about Porsche buying Andial as they were Porsche America motor tuner:
http://press.porsche.com/motorsport/...lease.php?id=3
http://press.porsche.com/motorsport/...ase.php?id=157

There is also another link below from rennlist about this modification:
https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...al-engine.html

Clarks also have an article about the modification (increasing Engine displacement):
http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-ma...ng_perfmod.htm

I think it would be good to know how many 951 have been modified with this kit as it seems to be pretty rare as Andial quickly shift to 911, under Porsche pressure as the 951 with this kit was getting better than a 930 at the time!

So here is my car information:
1986 Porsche 944 turbo - VIN#: WP0AA0950GN152888 - 67.5K Miles - Graphite Metallic - LSD

Thanks to bring up your car or any additional information you guys have about this kit as far as number made, exact performance added which I believe this part will be difficult as some will push more or less, like my car is supposed to have around 300hp but I have read some were boost to over 400hp with this same mod.

Thanks you and looking forward to hear from other around.

This was the easiest way to add around 100 ft lbs of tq. I did this about 20 years ago, and was amazed at the difference by just adding .3 liters to the base 2.5. I used a K27/8 turbo. The differences in drivability caused me to wonder why Porsche didn't offer this as a base upgrade when they came out with the S 951's in 88 and 89 here in the US.

This is easily best bang for the buck mod for these engines.

Back then, Andial was the only "kit" seller. Some folks machined the stock rods to allow clearance, but they only saved about $500 bucks vs using new rods. Plus, when I sold the car for around $20k back then, the Andial kit certainly added value to the buyer.

Today, there's many ways to skin this cat with similar quality, but less money. The hyprid folks here have made huge progress towards doing this for about half the cost of the old Andial kits. I think I spent around 7k for all the hard parts.

There were shops going the sleeved bore route, Huntley Racing comes to mind. I doubt any of their sleeved 2.8 motors are still running today. I KNOW the Andial or similar stroker motors, with proper boost and maintenance, the stroker builds will last as long as the factory 2.5's. The stoker motors don't like as much boost as what you can do with the 2.5's, but the tq increase is spectacular.

I have an Andial built 2.8L engine. I ran a 60-1 with a Stg 5 / #8 turbine with this engine and it ran ok - not the best turbo option, but that's how I got it.
I even have the receipt from Andial - $12,500 for the complete kit including custom Mahle pistons with offset pin, Carrillo rods, S2 crank, Andial cam, Motorsport intake (magnesium), injectors, K27-8 with programmed DME / KLR chips.

Engine is on a stand in my garage waiting for reassembly with a big valve head and better Garrett GT turbo.

I just bought a one owner 1989 944 Turbo S. It was rebuilt by Andial at around 40k miles by Dieter Inzenhofer.
I don't have much info on anything other than what the owner told me. But I'm trying to track down info and receipts.

Marius,
pull a spark plug and put a dowel in the hole and measure the stroke carefully...
