My 951 Andial Engine
Hello All,
I posted for my first time here a few days ago. Went to my first "timing belt" party with a couple Nor-Cal guys.....Thanks Steve, Chris, Deni and Moto1.
I didnt mention my engine previously but it seems to be a rarity so I will describe here and see if there is any interest.
I bought this 951 on Tuesday and it has an Andial 2.8 Stroker engine. I have the receipt from Andial for the work. Shows the following:
AND10295128 2.8 Liter engine
95110090100 T. gasket set
94410090103 B. gasket set
92810190107 m/bearrings
92810314302 r/bearrings
94410515704 cam belt
94410502704 tensioner
94410514200 nut
90011704500 ley ( not sure if thats right...cant read the writing)
95110541607 ex valves
9441012040 oil pan
AND10523500 camshaft
94410123301 gasket
94410132901 cover
90021900930 plug
WR7DP (4 plugs)
AND12395186 Stage II Upgrade
95111015204 Manifold
AND11190144 Exhaust Pipe
95137504202 Mount
motor blueprinted (inc. c.c) 8.0:1
Use 951 CUP-Oilpan
replace 8 valve guides
cut seats
surface head
balance engine
All this was done buy previous owner in 1991.
The car is very fast except the other day I lost a little something on the boost. Boost is still there but I dont have the kick in the *** pull I did earlier. Not really sure what it might be. Heard it could be some bad vacuum lines. I dont really know if it makes a difference but the car had been sitting for about 5 or 6 years previous and the tech said to run a bottle of injector cleaner with my next tank of gas. Seems like I lost the extra boost right after this. Maybe just a coincidence but maybe somebody on here can tell me. Could the injector cleaner cause the loss in boost???? Is it possible the engine computer can tell the octane is lowered and so isnt running like it should? Would appreciate any help.

i ran seafoam through and it did wonders on mine which had been sitting for ~2-3 years. Cleaned the injectors real well and made for a noticeable difference. I am no turbo owner though so i cant speak for the boost, but cleaning those injectors will help...

The Andial 2.8 kits are very expensive but good - IIRC they're about $4k or so. I don't even know if they have any left; they've pretty much disavowed the 944s and focus exclusively on 911s now. Bummer because they're so close - if they didn't have that "it's not a real porsche" elitism I'd actually consider going there.
Anyway, I second the vaccum line check. You're sure you had the engine nuts-on TDC when the belts went on and off right?

by the sound of it u are going on feel so if i was u i would get a boost gauge to tell u exactly how much u are making and losing. Check all vac lines for leaks. also we need more detials on the engine like boost control wastegate etc.

944turboStar: Your lack of boost is probably caused by a crack in the vacuum nipples on that intake manifold. I have a spare excellent condition stock aluminium intake manifold that you can have in trade for your magnesium andial manifold.

In 1991 that kit was well above 4K. Andial doesnt get a lot of 944 press anymore but they had the cool sh*t before there was cool sh*t. Some of the best "kits" for 951s came from there.

ANDIAL sells and ships performance parts for Porsche cars internationally. Because of our involvement with power-train rebuilds, we maintain a large inventory of parts related to engine, transmission and chassis. Our emphasis is on the 911 model through the 993 B Turbo, the 914-924-944 models are not part of our standard program.
Translation - you guys are too cheap for us.
