Default Steering rack hose rebuild?

Can you rebuild the hoses from the steering rack?

My rack is good, hoses leak.

If so i'll take them up the road to get new hoses or what ever they need.

You can either rebuild or have a jobber rebuild them as long as the metal ends are intact.
Even the ends can usually be replaced.

You may want to shop around. Some shops take the easy way out and charge you more because of the way they add extra fittings to adapt to your ends. Try to find one that will reuse the ends and do new crimps.

Yes you can. I did mine at Greenline Hose and Fittings in Calgary for 17.00$

I think there are pics on my build thread.

Paul,

Have the shop solder flared fittings to the factory end fittings - especially on the pressure hose - then simply replace the center section/rubber line. This will make the next hose replacement job MUCH easier.

Hope all is well. I recently did this to mine - wondering why in the hell I didn't think of this years ago! The HP line is a bitch to remove from the rack, as you likely know.

Hey George,

Thanks for those tips. Yes those allen head bolts round quite easy. I think i've had the hoses off a few years ago looking for the leak on the rack but turns out it's the hoses. Lucky the rack is very easy to remove on a RHD car.

Very busy at work so i need to do it all after work then in the morning walk up the road and drop them off to the hydraulic guy.

pic of hoses

They used typical flaring tool. Added a threaded end to the hose on the left and crush fitting on right.

It's been on my 3.0L car since I finished it with no leaks.
