I'll post some pics soon, but building a twin turbo 4L in under a year is no simple task, still a lot to do yet. Then there is the aero upgrade, the active dampers, the custom torque tube....

A little appreciation post.

I had the pleasure watching this monster set some truly amazing lap times around Eastern Creek this weekend. Not only did i get to watch the car do some laps, but watch the whole crew Rod has assembled to build and maintain this car in the pits the whole weekend. (I hope i didn't get to much in the way!) It is a fantastic team, they all work together so fluidly.

It is just little disappointing the car doesn't get the love and recognition it really deserves outside the 944 world. Hopefully one day they see this car as one mega development that truly breaks boundaries.
IMO the differences i see from the winning car (s13 MCA hammer head) and the RP968 is the Hammerhead is being pushed to it's absolute limits and the RP968 is being pushed to the limits of the current aero and suspension tune up. Unfortunately their sessions where cut short after a few issues.

The current time this has set around Eastern Creek was 1.21.4 and the winner lapped a 1.20.9 (both times where done in the same session)

Now we wait for 2019. Well done to everyone!

Thanks Pauly, good seeing you again.Yes it's a bit unfortunate the attitude people seem to have to the RP968. It's not like clicking buy on a website I can tell you.

I watched some of the live streams of this event with great interest. First of all, there is more outside-of-the-box thinking at this event than on the entire F1 grid, because there is freedom to do so! Plus, the cars are all based on street platforms so they are recognizable and it is easy to root for your favorite platform.

Of course, the 944/968 contingent had some hard knocks this weekend, but I think that both cars in question have a lot of unrealized potential. Hopefully both can rise up and get back to it next year!

No that is the old engine, it only puts out around 850 at the crank, pretty good for a mid sleeve block with a stock crank, carillo rods, mm rod mod and wossners, not a lot of head work.
The billet engine, Thor , is something else altogether.

Rod, noting some future changes you mentioned, are drag reduction moveable wings legal or do the rules state that wings and elements be fixed.

Secondly, the active suspension, is this your solution to lower the rear on the straights to lessen the rear wing angle for drag if in fact "wings must be fixed"...?

For everyone elses sake, have you guys pulled the motor apart and checked the bearings and wear?

The motor hasn't been used that much theoretically, but it had been pushed quite hard over the years.

holy ****ing **** that billet motor is ****

is it a taller deck height than stock? my memory may be fuzzy but the motor-mount boss to crank centerline distance looks larger than stock.

rod, did you give any consideration to hydraulic roller cams since you were going all-custom-everything?
